...and several lineup changes later, who's still watching Toonami? I've been watching it religiously, having enjoyed pretty much everything they've picked up. The current lineup (which is getting a new show[footnote]Naruto uncut -- they /technically/ haven't shown that before[/footnote] added next week) is great, it's exactly the kind of thing the old Toonami did so well with a mix of quality Western and Eastern animation. From where I'm standing at least, Toonami really is back. [sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]bitches[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

So, for discussion value, who's still watching, and what do you think?

I try to watch out of principle, I just want them to keep showing Toonami. My only problem is they don't really have many shows I want to watch, only Bionic Titan since I didn't watch when it was cn, I've seen all the other shows.

Dang, man, even Tenchi GXP? I know everything they currently have aside from Bleach (which is on hiatus starting next week to build a buffer of dubbed episodes) has been dubbed and legally available /forever/, but still. I guess I'm lucky in that I've been basically out of the anime loop since the fall after Animonday started on Sci Fi (when Summer vacation ended and I could no longer stay up until 2 AM on a Monday night XD). It's all new to me. Well, except for Inuyasha and Cowboy Bebop. But I'm not exactly staying up to watch the 3-5 AM portion of the block. Those are basically there for the benefit of people with DVRs and so the network doesn't have to show infomercials in the slot.

I want to, but my TV is so screwed up I don't know how to fix it and don't care enough to be bothered with it.

Oh right I forgot about Tenchi GXP, that just doesn't interest me.

Fair enough. It's one of my favorite shows on the current lineup, but then I like the comedic break after the dull seriousness of Bleach. Bleach is the show on the block that I don't like -- I'd be much happier if they just pulled it completely during the hiatus and ran Naruto in its slot, but instead they're running re-runs, putting Naruto in the 12:30 slot, and shifting everything else half an hour later. Which means Eureka 7, the other show in my top two, now starts at 3 AM. They're /really/ screwing that one over with the constant schedule changes.

Eureka 7 is a great show, one of the few shows I've watched and will still tune in to watch sometimes.

I am! I've not seen any of the shows here so that's good for me.

Well, I have seen Eureka 7 but not from beginning to end. In fact, I don't believe I've seen any of the firsts season at all and jumped in near the end of the 2nd. So it's good to get my next shot.

And Thundercats or Symbionic Titan which are both showing all the repeats right now. Argh.

I work most nights so I couldn't if I wanted to. Based on what I've seen of it though it just seems like the normal Adult Swim anime line-up from...years ago. There isn't anything there that really appeals to me so the nights that I am able to watch I don't. I leave it on Cartoon Network but the TV is either on one of my console-channels or off all together.

I stopped watching for awhile.
Last night I watched. Thundercats and symbiotic titan are good, but whatever that show was on after them was complete and total shit.

It's been "meh" since Deadman Wonderland ended.

I always end up staying up through all of the shit that I don't care about just so I can watch Cowboy Bebop.

But now that Naruto's gonna be back, I might start watching with interest again. It'll be a great nostalgia trip. It was technically my first anime, not counting Pokemon or Digimon.

I don't watch it. I've found other ways to occupy my time and interesting things to see since I was a kid. (That and the internet allows to me to get my hands on any show I want without having to go through a network).

Has it really been six months since Toonami came back on? Time sure seems to fly these days. I still remember when it was announced that it was coming back on. I still watch Toonami. Trying to do my part and help keep it on the air.

I can see that, but you really lose something without the themed block. I don't know, there's just something about programming blocks with consistent themes and high production values that make me happy. Judging by the number of websites out there that try to recreate Toonami as a 24 hour livestream (and were doing it well before the re-launch), I'm not alone on that. I really wish more TV channels would do that, instead of the more modern thing where instead of themed blocks you get daily marathons of shows -- four hours of Pawn Stars, Two hours of Adventure Time, six hours of How I Met Your Mother, and so on and so forth. When a network does that, there really /isn't/ a point to watching on their schedule. You may as well just look it up online.

I know, right? I did a double take myself when I went to work it out.

I would actually watch Toonami religiously if it weren't for the fact that it airs extremely late where I live. I just can't inject myself with enough caffeine to stay up past the first half-hour of when it starts.

How late is late? It starts at midnight Eastern time, and as far as I know that's the latest time zone it airs in, with it starting at 11:00 in Central Time. I'm not sure on Mountain or Pacific time, though -- there's usually a separate Pacific feed offset by a few hours. I guess if Mountain time gets the Pacific feed, that would suck. The whole thing would start at 1 AM.

I can understand not being able to stay up late (an early job, for example, can do that to people even on their day off) but it's been years since I've run into someone whose day doesn't start at 5 AM for whom midnight on a saturday is particularly late. Not disparaging you here, just kind of curious.

Holy crap, it's been six months? Woah...

Anyway, I've been watching it every night. When they started doing the midnight run, I've been staying up 'till 6 watching it all. Cocked up my sleep routine a bit, but I've started adjusting. I love it. I live in a pretty rural area and don't have much money, so buying or streaming anime is pretty much out of the question for me. Had to rely on television for my anime needs, and... yeah.

Toonami brings me new anime to watch, and old shows to watch again. Loved Deadman Wonderland, bit mixed on Casshern Sins (didn't hate it, but... eh), love Samurai 7, mixed on Eureka 7 until the 10th episode, then character development started happening and now I'm enjoying it quite a bit, and I'm not hating Tenchi Muyo GPX but I'll have to give it a few more episodes. Watching Inuyasha brought back all sorts of great memories of me watching it with friends, staying up until the wee hours of the morning watching rented DVD's. So that's a good nostalgia trip. The moment I heard its closing theme back when it came on during daylight savings... damn, it's like nostalgia up and punched me in the face. Not that bad a show, either. Isn't one of my favorites, but it's still good.

It's also good to see Thundercats and Simbionic Titan get a home, so-to-speak. Both are really decent shows that didn't deserve to get cancelled so early. It also seems they're doing their utmost to avoid re-runs. Which is pretty admirable. Only shows re-running are Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Cowboy Bebop. Holding out hope they'll get Yu Yu Hakusho and/or Dragon Ball Z uncut on the bloc. Also Gundam Wing. Or G-Gundam. Or Gundam 08th MS Team. Anything Gundam-related, really. Also, Megas XLR. More giant robots, is what I'm saying. That'd be awesome.

Love that Toonami's back, and I hope it continues to stay for a long time.

I still watch it ever faithfully, and if I don't, I make sure to leave the TV on while Adult Swim plays. It will be interesting to see Naruto come back...I must admit I am a bit old for it but maybe Naruto will be an entirely different beast with the uncut version. Anyways I like forward to it...but...I really hope Toonami gets some new Anime here pretty soon.

Yeah, I'm on the East Coast of the US and it starts at 12:00pm. The thing is that my mind is very structured and I have to obey that structure most of the time. My brain has set itself to want to crawl onto a comfortable surface and shut itself off at around 10:00pm, meaning that I have to fight my natural instincts for a good two hours to even watch the Toonami intro. At that point, my conscience part of my brain is ready to give up and surrender to my unconscious mind. Also, when I fall asleep not in some sort of bed, I tend to sleepwalk and get myself into...interesting positions.
