Why is Death a thing in the Borderlands Universe?
The New U Station should make everything freaking pointless.
You're telling me Jack, Roland, all these important people (especially Roland because he used that thing dozens of times on his romp through the first game) aren't listed with the New U Station? They can't be brought back because of... reasons?
If I wasn't such a total loot whore, that would make it hard for me to like the game.
Actually if I remember correctly New-Us are not canon in the story. They're just a part of the game mechanics; a respawn point when you goof up or get overwhelmed with quips for comedic purposes.
Then it's semi stupid writing to me.
I get what you're saying, but if not explained properly in the game, it does seem like nothing you does matter. I mean, I always took that as the reason why every Bandit sounded the same and why enemies respawned. Everyone had their services registered with New U station.
I just looked it up and saw that Anthony Burch did in fact declare New U's not canon. Then everything seems really stupid now. Why even do it? Just have Marcus (who was telling the story in the first part) get interupted by saying along the lines of "That's not how the story goes" and Marcus responding in a Marcus way, or saying "I just killed them off to see if you were still paying attention. This is what really happened"
I liked the idea of New U. I found it sickly weird that a company would continue to make you until you're no longer of use, but in perfect tone of the Borderlands universe. Now just "Oh, no, it's not even real in the game you're playing".
God, stupid writing is pushing me daily to become a Hipster...
