Anyway, I love the new designs. But it irritates me how they didn't go anywhere with the racism. The first two episodes built up something great, and it's like the rest of the show squandered it. Nothing was done with the themes of racism. Classism disappeared. Lion-o and gang go out immediately for revenge instead of regrouping what's left of his nation and even ignoring some kids. The direction of the first episode is forgotten when in the third episode Lion-o acts like Tigra. City of Gold not expounded upon. They learn the "value of life" to charge out into death. An entire episode on Panthro flashbacks, no character development for Wilykit and Wilykat.
It's just, so much waste. I don't hate it, but they need to be doing much, much better.
Jury is still out on this one, for me anyways. It sounds a lot like the hullabaloo Wind Waker got for being cell-shaded. And that was by no means a bad game. ( well the sailing parts did tend to drag on, and i also disliked the way they had you go about treasure hunting for the triforce).
Meaning, that I have only seen a few episodes of the ones that are out already, so i'm waiting to judge it until i see at least the first full season.

You do realize that there is more to anime than the ___mon shows right? And that the shows geared more towards children have a slightly different style of artwork than the ones geared towards older crowds?Soviet Heavy said:

Saying that Thunder Cats (2011) is going for the 'Pokemon' crowd because they use anime-style artwork is like saying that Conan the Barbarian (2011) was going for the same target audience as the new Spy Kids movie because they are both in 3D.

Yes, it is a fan-vid but it is an updated intro song. Maybe not the full they wanted but sounds pretty good.

I wasn't really around when the original was, but I used to watch it so I have a comparison point.
I really like the new one. It's added so much more to the table. It's different mostly due to the fact that the original is played out like a cartoon and this one is more of a fully set-up fantasy. Everything has played out in a certain way to get the setting just right. It's pretty stellar, the animation looks great and the characters are familiar and fun, with just enough changed.
I really don't understand the anime-look hate. The original ThunderCats was based off of the look that most anime had in the 80's, so this version is doing the same thing, only it's for modern anime. If anything, I think it looks perfect.

I remember watching the old show so I'm familar with the franchise. I have seen all the episodes so far and overall I think its ok (not the best nor is it the worse).

Animation quality is top notch. There had been one or two time I felt like I watching more of an anime show (the scene when they encounter those plant people look very anime looking).
I think the overall make over with the new mythos and the character backstory making them more in-depth.
Bad thing about the show-
After the first two episodes episode two and three kind of suck in terms of the plot since it's the typical life lesson episodes (and also the third episode is a Moby Dick rip off). Granted I can understand how it supposes to shape Lion-o to be more of a leader but it seen force. I admit the forth episode (the plant people lifespan within a day) seen to be more of a lesson toward the Emo or those who think being alive sucks.
However after those two episodes it had gone back to the main plot and action.
Typical off screen violence like during the battle (the cats fire the arrows and you only see the lizardmen running away).

Yeah, that bit was really annoying. That and given the lack of bodies apparently the rain of arrows hit absolutely nobody anyway. But more annoying still for me is that they had the same scene less than a minute later...using the exact same footage.Scarim Coral said:
