So today I saw a cyclist getting run over by a car...

I was heading to my brother at around 5 pm to help him with something. Around this time of day, it's dark here where I live.

I see this car coming up from a side road and he started to slow down for me, which he has to. On my right before I was in the intersection, I saw this cyclist.

You probably know it yourself how you sometimes play out possible scenarios in your head. I did so too and I imagined the car not stopping for the cyclist.

As I went past the intersection, I looked in my rear-view mirror and to my horror, I saw the car slamming right into the cyclist and heard a clear "thump" as he did so.

It was totally surrealistic and weird. I didn't think I would see anything like that ever, but now I did.

The cyclist did have lights on and it was totally the car driver's fault. Nothing serious happened, I think.

Do you have any similar experiences?

Did you record it? You can become a YouTube celebrity with that sort of stuff.

Well, I hit a car once. Was going round a corner on the wrong side on mah bicycle (Couldn't see the guy). Next second later I'm on the ground with a green Vauxhall looking at me. Meh. I was fine.

I saw a dog get run over by a car and it went spinning across the road until it hit the pavement, it was ok though, i'm sure it was, someone nearby took it to the vet.

My dad, bro and myself got in a wreck last week in my sister's car. Some kid pulls out in what he assumes is 4 way intersection and we couldn't stop in time and next thing we know we see nothing but a massive tire off a jeep before bumping off to the side.

but yea I kindah saw it coming and it's weird when it actually happens.

I would have stopped to see if he was okay.

It's nothing like yours, but I had a dream I got a bath with my watch on and today, I forgot to take my watch off in the bath.
lol

I think he's alright. I went past the same spot 5 minutes later and they were all gone and no ambulances or anything. I should have stopped to check on the guy and give out some personal information in case they need witnesses, but when I saw the driver get out of the car to help, I drove on. I was really freaked out.

I laughed, even though I shouldn't

I remember when I was really young (7-8 maybe) I was walking to school with my mum, we were walking by a roundabout and this flat bed lorry came round much faster than he should have been. On the bed was loads of sheet steel, great big 3x3m 3-4mm thick stuff that, when he lost control, ripped through the straps holding it on and flew off like a bunch of giant shurikens of death. Like you say I had this weird moment where I, in slow mo, imagined these sheets flying through the air, over the steel fence separating the road and path, chopping the mums and kids in half. Fortunately they didn't have the momentum to go high or fast enough to get through the fence (just smashed it to bits, practically bent in half)... but if it wasn't there... well it probably would have scarred me for life.

EDIT: Oh, and as someone who cycles to and from work (both times being in the dark) i've nearly been knocked down by cars a ton of times. It really doesn't matter how bright or flashy your LED lights are some drivers just completely blank you from view, avoiding indicating and then blame you when they have to push the break pedal through the floor.

Cyclists are worth 100 points. 150 if they're fat guys.
It wasn't the driver's fault, he's probably just going for the high score.

My epic tradition teacher was driving downtown one day and got T-impacted by a moped. The cyclist flew out of the moped, over the car, landed on his feet unharmed, and his helmet flew off upon touchdown. The moped and the car door got damaged, and my teacher was fine.

I once got hit by a car. It was in a primary school car park. It was about 5 in the afternoon, over an hour after the school finished. I was stood talking to one of my mates on our way to the shop and i see this car coming very slowly towards us, at parking speed or whatever, so we figure we have enouh time to get across the road before she got near us (yes it was a female driver and i am now of the opinion that females should not be allowed behind the wheel) so what does the ***** do? She speeds up and hits me with the car. I go up onto the bonnet (hood for you americans) and roll off the side and my mate jumps back and starts laughing at me. I get up a little confused but otherwise unhurt (she wasnt really going that fast). Woman gets out of the car and starts having a go at me for crossing the street. I then proceed to send the next ten mins swearing at her and calling her retarded and tell her to lookwhere she is going and not speed up in order to run over pedestrians while she screams at me in barely understandable english (she was a jhonny foreigner too). By now i am on the verge of punching her in the face. Then my friend drags me off, me telling her i am going to kill her and her family, she gets back in her car and drives off and i go to the shop and get my skittles.

Was it Jeremy Clarkson behind the wheel? Joking aside, hope the cyclist is alright.

On topic : once at college, me and a couple of friends were walking into town and we saw something shuffling in this hedge on the pavement. So we went to check it out, and to our suprise it was a baby deer, which then panicked, ran out onto the dual carriageway and went under a Merc's wheel. I looked away just as it was getting hit, there was just this massive *THUMP* sound. I think it was alright since when I looked back it was gone, unless it was riding shotgun of course
