Well, lots of news just came out about the upcoming Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in this trailer.

It seems the other world thought to be the Dark World is something a bit different. Lorule! Along with an alternate version of Zelda in Hilda, and possibly Ganondorf himself with the new antagonist Yuga.

The silly pun aside, this makes things look very interesting for A Link Between Worlds, there are some other details in the video, but I'm not going to spoil them for you.

What do you guys think?

It's basically the dumbest fucking name ever but Nintendo have managed to make the dual worlds thing interesting many times before. I'm guessing it'll work well for them.

Nintendo really needs to get over the whole dual worlds thing at this point. I hoped they'd gotten it out of their systems with Metroid Prime 2 and LoZ: Twilight Princess, but apparently not. I mean, both of those were good games, but they had a tendency to really drag in places. The final key hunt in Echoes jumps to mind, as does having to complete practically every area in TP twice.

Terrible terrible name, and such a redundant idea for the Zelda franchise. Doesn't mean the game is going to be bad, of course, but that's far from inspiring.

Is the happy mask salesman the sad mask remover salesman in the dark world?
Well, Eiji Aonuma said there may be a tie to Majora's Mask in A Link Between Worlds. So we could see the Sad Facade Mechant in Lorule.

I really like the dual word mechanics and themes you get in the Zelda series, as long as they are done well of course. With all the times they've put dual world stuff in the series, I would hope they are master craftsmen by this point. Though I agree Twilight Princess's Twilight Realm could have been better.

Holy shit I'm actually going to give them credit for going with such a brain bursting moronic name.
Like, I almost can't believe it.

edit: noticed "Hero of Lime" made this thread.
It's just too much.

I was waiting for such a pun to be made. And now it has. I am no less excited for A Link Between Worlds, however. If anything, I'm a bit more excited for it.

Oh god that pun is just terrible. "Lorule?" Whoever came up with that one needs a good smack. Terrible pun aside though, I'm actually kinda interested in this game now.

I didn't realize people were upset by a punny name. I mean, people got super excited when people announced Talonflame as a pokemon. I'm not really sure what I'm missing here...

Sideways New York was a good, fun game. As such, I expect A Link Between Worlds to be a good, fun game. It can't be worse than Skyward Sword. I just pray they don't have somebody as obnoxious as Fi in it. Worst Nintendo character I have ever seen. Made me miss Navi.

This is a sequel to the game that debuted the dual worlds, which have been a part of every main zelda game to date. If it's not a dual world, it's past/future sky/land, ages or seasons, night/day, big/small, etc. There's always some sort of duality component. I don't think it's a matter of Nintendo getting it out of there system, as that this is simply what Zelda as a franchise is at this point.

Yeah, if you have no problems with over 600 Pokemon having ridiculous pun names, Lorule shouldn't be too bad. xD

I'd rather Nintendo go back to seasons rather than more duality nonsense. The name is pretty bad, but it wouldn't be the first time a Zelda title has game mechanics that dictates what little story there is. I'm still looking forward to playing it.

Honest to Betsy, I came into this thread to ask 'Is that someone's shitty idea of a Zelda parody?'
Oh, the cruel irony...

On a side note, the posts thus far have cracked me up, so good show Escapist.

I don't understand the upset over naming a world Lorule. Yeah, it's a bad pun, but it's not like Zelda hasn't done those before. Hyrule = High Rule, after all, so I don't see why Lorule is any worse.

Anyways, game is looking fucking solid. I think a lot of people have been waiting for a top-down classic style Zelda for a while, and it looks like they're going to nail this one. For me, I wonder what this all means for the Wii U Zelda. Are they using this game as a test run for ideas for the console game? Aonuma has been making a lot of noise recently about wanting to make Zelda less linear, and reducing the handholding. Hopefully ALBW shows us what direction they plan to take the franchise going forward.
By all means, Lorule's existence is very interesting and I can't wait to see what it will do for the lore side of the series. This trailer is making me even more excited for a game I can't wait to play already.

I could see this as a sort of test run for a non-linear Zelda U for sure. My only real concern about the non-linear mechanic is how they will balance out the difficulty curve for the dungeons. Will it be like Zelda 1 where you can tackle any dungeon in any order you want, yet they have a set difficulty order? Or will each dungeon change a bit based on the order the player does them in? We'll wait and see I suppose.

like the art style and i honestly don't mind the name..it's not that big of a deal?

beyond that though, the gameplay doesn't look like something i would enjoy so i'll probably pass, TP and SS was an avalanche of horridness in terms of enjoyment, so i'll skip on this unless i play it at a friends and have fun with it.
