Child of Eden and Rise of Nightmares good games (or so I've heard). Just Dance is a great party game (or so I've heard). I don't have a Kinect, I'm just going on hearsay.
Rise of Nightmares is alright. If it were a normal game, I'd trash it for having a stupid story, bad game play, and for being very ugly. However, since it's the only game I have for the Kinect that could be considered a game, it's worth looking at. Not great and I'm certainly glad I won it rather than bought it (Thanks Escapist!). I doubt I'd spend more than $10 for it.

I've heard Child of Eden is ok but not really a game so much as...well...I'm not sure. An experience? No story, just game play kind of thing...

And I've only played Dance Central (which was a blast) and reviews say that DC is better than Just Dance.

The Kinect still has a load of potential and hopefully one day, developers will figure it out. However, I think that Microsoft needs to get past the "you are the only thing you need!" crap. Back to my earlier example, Rise of Nightmares is an OK game at best. If you added a joystick so that moving was not a giant hassle, the game would shoot up at least one star in my recommendation.
That was the game I meant. Sorry. Dance Central is the Kinect game, Just Dance is the Wii dance game. I got them mixed up.
Just Dance is indeed for the Kinect and the Wii (or at least JD3 is, maybe the other 2 were Wii exclusive). Dance Central is exclusive to the Kinect. I'm not sure if that even matters to you but I figured I'd let you know that you were not incorrect : )

Kinect Sports, and Kinect Adventures have proved to me to be awesome fun, and have kept me and some friends entertained for quite a while! They also serve as a good way of breaking yourself in to the way the kinect controls work. Other than that Dance Central is a lot of fun!

Depends what you want from a gaming device. If you want traditional console games, then no. Child of Eden is a great one-off experience with some great visuals, but at the end of the day it's just a rail shooter. The same goes for The Gunstringer, although it replaces Eden's artistic graphics with some wacky humour and offers you a bit more control over your movements. Kinect just doesn't work as well as a standard controller for those sort of games, and everyone knows it.

But if you're looking more for a device that you & your family can enjoy at a gathering or that you and your friends can enjoy whether they're gamers or not, then there are a quite a few. Kinect Sports & Kinect Sports 2 are games that're really easy to jump into and work really well, they're awesome when you have a bunch of friends over for a few beers. Dance Central is another great one, if you can find the humour in humiliating yourself and watching your friends do the same. There are also some really fun little games on XBLA for Kinect, like Fruit Ninja and Leedmees.

Basically, if you want Kinect to support "gamer" (for want of a better term) games, or if you actually believed all of Microsoft's nonsense about revolutionising the way we play, you'll be disappointed. If you prefer to play games alone or via the internet, there's nothing here for you. If you don't often entertain guests or family often, there isn't much point in owning one.

However, if you're looking for a social gaming device for all of your friends and family to have a little fun with when they're visiting, Kinect really is pretty great.

Kinect Sports(not sure about the second one) was pretty fun.

Child of Eden is also supposedly a pretty good game as well.

Dance Central is good if you like dancing, equal entertainment watching others flail around as well.
