So... were there any GOOD games on the 3DS?

Plenty in fact.

Rune Factory 4
Kid Icarus Uprising
Etrian Odyssey 4 and Untold
Codename STEAM
Persona Q and Q2 (Q2 more-so)
Metroid Samus Returns
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Generations
Kirby Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot
LBX

Just to name a few. I'm avoiding mentioning ports, but the ports they have are also really good. I'm also probably forgetting some, but the system has some major hitters.

Which bachelorette is that? I can think of a few that stand out a bit more, but... I found myself loving nearly every character in this game (And it's probably in my top 3 games in general), so I can't think of any I'd find strongly above the rest
I think, based on what they said, that they don't like Pico. I do find myself liking Rune Factory 3's characters more just because of how much of a bunch of oddballs they all are, but I think 4 has a lot of good characters.

I'd consider most of my 3DS games to be good purchases, but then I liked Fire Emblem Awakening. Definitely don't get Fates in that case, it's the lesser of the two. My favorites (flaws and all) would be:

Shin Megami Tensei IV got me into the franchise. It's just as tough as you heard, but I enjoyed it regardless. SMTIV: Apocalypse isn't quite as harsh but has an inferior, more upbeat Persona-ish plot IMO.

Devil Survivor: Overclocked and Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker. Same thing. The first DS is one of my all-time favorite games, and DS2 is good as well but easier with an inferior story.

Metroid: Samus Returns. The proverbial breath of life to the Metroid series after Other M.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Not as funny as Bowser's Inside Story, but still a fun romp. Certainly more difficult.

Persona Q2. I feel like some of the bosses are a bit too powerful for the dungeons they're in, requiring some grinding, but otherwise an enjoyable experience.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

You seem hypersensitive to anything slightly repetitive so I won't bring up the Pokemon games.

I played the shit out of this game. Still have a save with all routes complete on my SD card, haha. I will treasure that save file forever since it has a complete demon compendium on it.

I recently picked Apocalypse back up after only beating it once way back when it came to the US. It's great (especially the improvements to the combat system) but the story is definitely inferior to IV. This is actually the first time playing through an SMT game on the "Hard" difficulty (without it being NG+) and it definitely feels much harder than the first time. Just finished the dungeon where you free Krishna and boat-boy had my whole party down to 0 MP by the end lol.

Got any tips you could give me for finishing Overclocked, without outright guides? I've never been able to finish the game because the final gauntlet of bosses are so brutal that they've given me PTSD.

Basically this.

Dolce is the most interesting bachlorette purely because her sarcasm gives her some flavor. But she's tied at the hip with Pico the Ghost who is hands down THE most annoying character.

Forte's the next best pick, but she suffers from being painfully boring most of the time and basically telling you her character arc outright instead of actually...you know, having a character arc. (She IS super awesome when the plot kicks in and she gets to be a badass once in a blue moon, but those moments are far too rare).

Oh, yeah, they're REALLY not easy. I struggled a lot the first time too. :s

Honestly, most of the advice I could give is probably worthless, as I relied heavily on my main character, who I made a Glass-Cannon Mage who spammed Holy Dance for non-elemental damage, Drain (for more MP), and Prayer (For massive heals when my team was low) that could often instakill an entire group of enemies.

The best advice I can give is to use the one "free battle" you have access to to grind (Kill the strongest demon with whomever needs the levels the most), and just fuse obsessively until you have a strong team, then just built into strengths (ie, if you have Soldier Lady with you, give her and her team all the hardcore damage dealing moves). *shrug*

Oh... I was considering going for her, but yeah, Pico is infuriating... She's one of the few characters I don't like much (The other being Doug. But I might go for him when playing a female character next time on RF4 Special and see if there's more to him than it seems)

I adored this game, especially since I gave up at the 4th dungeon boss of Q1. I would've needed to do OBSCENE amounts of grinding for that fight to have gone well and nothing was generating good EXP at that point anymore.

Q2 was a lot more balanced, but the 2nd and 3rd dungeon bosses (The latter especially almost requiring someone with power charge) were a total bag of dicks. But man, it was hard to be mad with that boss theme... Nothing Is Promised is probably my favourite Persona boss theme in the whole series, spin-offs and all. I'm using it for a boss fight in my D&D campaign too, it's gonna be great.

Hoo boy, I laid into Devil Survivor 2 in my "Sequel Disappointment" thread. What an absolute shit show. Especially with DS1 Overclocked being one of my fave 3DS titles at this point

TBH, I found Belzaboul more difficult to take down than Babel or Belberith due to his high defense, regeneration and plague fly ability, but if you're really stumped I would recommend bringing as many demons as you can. The final gauntlet wears you down with the re-fights, but you can just change out your demons when they run dry on MP. Your human characters can't do that, so it's best to give them MP regeneration abilities such as Spirit Drain or Victory Cry. If you didn't skill crack those, I would suggest bringing physical-focused characters like Kaido or 'Atsu-bro' to lead off with, only using your human casters' magic when you need to.

Amazingly, even with the crazy number of times I've beaten that game, I have yet to defeat Lucifer. He's one of those very few bonus bosses that will forever elude me.

I wouldn't consider DS2 that bad, just an inferior sequel to an amazing game. I liked the new Triangulum arc, and Meritocracy vs. Egalitarianism is a new twist different from the series' usual 'Heaven vs. Hell'. Just wish it had been given more detail, perhaps revealed a bit earlier.

On that note, Devil Survivor 3 on Switch. Now. Or I'll summon up Pyro Jack and burn down your house, Nintendo.

Capcom never finished Mega Man Legends 3 for it, so for as far as I'm concerned, nope, no good games on 3DS.

The ultimate choice was a pretty good storytelling idea. However, I would've appreciated that story angle a lot more if the game had a properly consistent tone like the first one and wasn't "whacky anime bullshit: the game" any time things got remotely tense. I couldn't stomach more by Day 7, so I watched it on YouTube. What happened with Trumpeter... And earlier in the game with Makoto after that one particular warp, just... REALLY?

I agree with you though, it would've been better to reveal it on day 4 or so, and not day 6 (If I'm remembering correctly). The game had so much potential... Was a shame

Might I recommend Radiant Historia? It has time travel done right, and you never have to make multiple saves to get all the alternate paths. Though I suggest the DS version cuz it has better character design.

I guess I'll go ahead and mention games that I like even if I don't necessarily think others will like them. There's Stella Glow, and Lord of Magna, I feel that Lord of Magna has an interesting idea combining bowling with RPG mechanics but doesn't take it far enough to become truly great but Stella Glow is a pretty good strategy game.

There's also Fairune 1 and 2 which are great Zelda like games that are more about exploration and where combat involves just running into enemies.

Steam World Dig is quite a good, if short, game that is fortunately surpassed quite handily by its sequel.

And there's a game called Soul of Darkness which is a short Castlevania rip off that actually doesn't play that bad I think, it helped scratch my itch a bit for a Castlevania game.

I tried the demo of that, and while I liked most of it... does the combat actually become fairly strategic? The problem I find with games like these (Or ones like the earlier Neptunia games) is that the strategy kinda falls apart when it's so easy to just run around to the side of an enemy to do extra damage, then watch them loop around you, and repeat. Without a D&D like attack provocation I don't see where the strategy in positional attacks like that actually is. If the game evolves beyond that and into something great, maybe I'll give it another peek

I've just realized that everything I've played on the system has been middling to awful, and I don't have a single game I really like on it at all.

Here's what I've played:

Yokai Watch - Pokemon knockoff. Tedious. A plot so dull I can't remember a single thing about it anymore even though I finished the game.
Yeah knockoffs tend to suck
If only the 3DS had some authentic Pokemon games for you to play

Also to echo everyone else in this thread

Fun Games:
Metroid: Samus Returns
Super Mario 3D Land
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Star Fox 64

Fun if your friends also have them:
Mario Kart 7
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Smash Bros 4

The 3DS had lots of good stuff. Here are some titles that I liked, ignoring ports of indie games that I didn?t play? (in other words, I might like Cave Story, but I sure didn't play it on the 3DS)

Fire Emblem: Awakening
Super Mario 3D Land
Pokemon Sun
3D Gunstar Heroes (listing these since I did play them on the 3DS)
3D Sonic 2
3D Sonic
Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology
Picross E (the DS one is better, but these were still good)
Etrian Odyssey (series)
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

I rented Metroid: Samus Returns, and it looked like it could be good, but I got serious pretzel-hand trying to play it on the 3DS. This one really should have come to the Switch, so that I could play it on a real controller.
