Borderlands TPS sank its hooks deep into my brain and won't let me go! And though a lot of people will undoubtedly disagree, I think it's the best title of the series so far. Un-fucking-believably great! :D

And Janey... mmmmm... Janey!

I just started playing Friday night, and I'm going back to it later today and I'm inclined to agree. I've been having a blast with BL: TPS WTFBBQWTF, and I really like how Athena plays. Her still tree looks like fun and I'm wondering how crazy she will be when I max one side out.

Also, Janey is funny as hell. XD

If you break it down, spectacle is an impressive show and fighter means a person who fights ... so shouldn't a spectacle fighter be things like street fighter? Never seen a hadouken thrown in a UFC fight!.
So you think a puny fireball is more spectacular than picking up a robot the size of an aircraft hangar and suplexing it?

You have some odd standards.

Also, if the fighting in that type of game is not inherently spectacular, you need to git gud.

Resident Evil 4
Final Fantasy 6

I picked up the 3D Realms pack of the games the other day but have yet to get around to playing it.

It's just not my definition of a fight ... more of a genocide. 90% of enemies don't pose a threat to you and you cut them down like a fly spray on a nest.

You're not really fighting, you're killing by hacking and slashing.

So you're just making boring little semantic quibbles and have nothing interesting to add, thanks for sharing though.

I've been playing Brutal Legend lately. I got the game on Steam 2 years ago but never really got that far in before forgetting about it. Recently reinstalled it and have been enjoying the fuck out of it.
Glad to meet someone else who actually enjoyed Brutal Legend. A lot of people act like because that game had some flaws, it's not good.
And a lot more people think that because it sneaked in RTS elements, it was awful.
Don't get me wrong. The Stage Battles could have been implemented far, far better and some of them are quite difficult(the first one with the drowning doom after the time skip was a tough one for me) but I still enjoyed the hell out of the game.
As did I (I had another comment stating that, but it didn't show up), because either way the battles went, you could jump right in to fix whatever major screw up you or your units made. Also, using the car mid-battle was a saving grace in my opinion.
I also really liked that game, though one of my favorite parts was just driving around looking at the vistas. It's really rare to see a game so committed on it's art style/direction, both audio and visuals. Loved it for that. The game took a little while to grow on me though.

OT:
Shin megami tensei 4 on 3ds and various smaller indie games on pc.

Liking valdis story: abyssal city so far.
Super hexagon kicks my ass, only beat the first level so far.
Mainly going through humble bundle collection trying whatever feels interesting at the moment.

Dark souls 2 every now and then, really liked most of the dlc even though parts of them felt unnecessarily difficult or just annoying. Mainly looking at the snow storm ice field with frozen lightning reindeers(?). But atmosphere and world building wise they feel like a huge improvement over most of the main game. Will probably go back to first dark souls every now and then after it migrates from GFWL.
Little bit interested in the Lords of the Fallen, for some reason that name feels impossible to remember.

No, I'm calling a spade, a spade. You're calling a spade, god's almighty shovel of omnipotence! Complete with golden rays of shining light and the sounds of angels singing emanate from it when it swung!

Final Fantasy War Of The Lions: I was just dying to have this sense of journey and adventuring that a good Jrpg can provide
sadly the game I picked up wasn't exactly the best choice...
don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good game, but I'm just not in the right mood
" DAMN YOU, GRANDIA 1 FOR RUINING EVERY RPG I PLAYED AFTER YOU!! "
( if someone knows an rpg with a good sense of character progression and kind of "adventuring" feel to it. I wouldn't mind the recommendation )
also Braid (let's see what the fuss is all about)

note: I believe this topic should be pinned on the forum board here.

Skies of Arcadia?

It's probably the closest to the sense of discovery and adventure you get from the original Grandia.

I do agree that it's something that's been missing in a lot of RPGs, the sense that you're getting out there and being intrepid and finding stuff.

The original Mass Effect has a bit of it as well, but it's wrapped up in driving the Mako around which is not everyone's cup of marmite.

I vary a bit atm...

Currently switching between Fate/Stay Night, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II (all three the subparts), South Park, Skyrim, Divinity: Original Sin, Total War: Rome 2 and Civilization: Beyond Earth. Although the latter is on the nomination list of 'get off my PC!'

Catcha: baron & eggs. You sure you didn't mean bacon&eggs? I don't like barons for breakfast.

Hi, guys. I thought it would be nice change of pace from all the gaming politics talks going around here, to have a nice talk about what games are you currently playing. Are you enjoying the game? Thoughts?

I'll start:

I recently bought the complete Ultima series from GoG and so far, I'm enjoying them greatly. Although a bit obtuse, I was fun tabbing out of the game and looking at the manuals the games brought in order to find clues, maps and even decipher text. It's great.

I'm also playing Fire Emblem: Awakening. I'm really loving the game but I'm afraid my OCD in keeping my army in balanced levels is slowing my progress.
I'm playing Elite: Dangerous and Civilization: Beyond Earth. I have to say, C:BE may have its issues, but there's just something so wonderful about conquering an alien world as a rampaging army of cyborg Russians. Turns out the AI is run by a bunch of peaceniks, though, and hypocrites at that- before I'd ever even bothered fighting someone besides the aliens, the AI colonies had started at least half a dozen wars with each other, but somehow, I'M the warmonger after taking out a single civ! What the hell?

Didn't matter much in the end, though. Once the cyberpunk death train starts rollin', it's got no goddamn brakes. Just ask the Kavithan Protectorate! Oh, wait, you can't, they blew up.

The Legend Of Heroes - Trails In The sky seems to also have this same vein ....
but for some reason I've been pretty hesitant to pick it.
I'll probably do so when all its 3 parts comes out...
but yeah, here's another one to add to the list.

I've just started playing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. And holy crap I love this game. Being a pirate is so AWESOME, your crew sings shanties, you raid ships, siege forts and do PIRATE stuff. Did I mention the shanties?

Playing Etrian odyssey untold. Still the 1st etrian odyssey, but with the improvements of EOIV. And an extra dungeon to explore. Somehow, it strikes me as easier, which isn't too bad. Maybe I should've played on the harder difficulty than standard. Ah well.

Smash brothers for nintendo 3DS. Even if I don't have anyone to play with, it's still fun. And frustrating too. All part of it for me though. Wouldn't mind playing with more people, but online isn't good. That input lag kills me.

I'm going to play SMTIV, persona Q, then pokemon AS. kind of busy 3 months, I'll tell you that. Also looking forward to the amiibos.

Currently playing Lichdom Battlemage. Really enjoying it. It seems like a nice mixture of my 2 favourite genres - RPGs and FPS (it basically plays like a FPS where you shoot fireballs and lightning rather than bullets and rockets).

When you've got a game that is 90% combat, variety is important to keep things interesting, and Lichdom has lots of different enemies with special abilities that make you switch tactics. Story is not the main focus, but what is there, is fairly interesting.

Steam forums suggest game length is somewhere in the 30-40 hours range, so I guess I'm about halfway through. Unless something unexpectedly bad happens, I definitely recommend it.

At the moment it's a mash up between SWTOR and Watch Dogs. I'm really enjoying the social aspect of SWTOR, especially teaming up to beat hard missions (I'm kind of a MMO newb).

I also like the premise of Watch Dogs and the gameplay is fluid...But seriously the main story is so hallow, so I'm just plowing through to see how it ends. I'm guessing it will probably be cliche.
