In my case it's definitely a bit of elitism. I'm very prone to elitism, I gotta admit that.

But it's also the idea that people who like mainstream things aren't really passionate about the things they like. If your favorite musician is Britney Spears, you might only be listening to what's on the radio. If your favorite is Mia Doi Todd, you clearly don't.

I agree. People need to stop disliking something just because its 'too mainstream'. Its idiotic.


Maybe its because people think that if something goes mainstream, like a musician/band, that musician/band is not going to be as good anymore and will decline in quality in the future or something?

Or maybe people notice the mainstream things which are bad/horrible and think all mainstream things are not good?

I don't care if something is popular or not, if I like it, I like it.
