Do they ever make you practice doing the splits in kickboxing or whatever that is, or would that be counter-productive?Duck Sandwich said:Here's me (on the left), doing my best Chuck Norris impression.

It depends on the club you're going to. Static stretching (such as the splits) isn't a huge priority where I train. Sometimes one of the more experienced students will lead a stretch after some of the classes, but other than that, we mainly just do warmups that involve movement (ie: a light jog around the ring while swinging our arms in various directions).Ambi said:Do they ever make you practice doing the splits in kickboxing or whatever that is, or would that be counter-productive?Duck Sandwich said:Here's me (on the left), doing my best Chuck Norris impression.

Is punching your leg a viable strategy?Duck Sandwich said:Here's me (on the left), doing my best Chuck Norris impression.

Haha, now that I look at it, it *does* look like he's punching my leg as opposed to blocking my kick. But to answer your question, I doubt it. You'd have to have a much better reaction time than your opponent in order to intercept their kick by actually punching it as opposed to just blocking it. That, and trying to punch a leg that's about to kick you leaves you open. An opponent can take advantage of that opening by faking a kick, then punching you while you're throwing a punch at where you think his leg is going to be.Hafrael said:Is punching your leg a viable strategy?Duck Sandwich said:Here's me (on the left), doing my best Chuck Norris impression.
No, not me. Or at least not 2 months ago. I was stationed in Gothenburg 4 years ago, and back then I usually passed through Brunnsparken a few times a week...Communist partisan said:I believe I've seen you in Nordstan at Brunnsparken 2 months back, it it possible?Xifel said:I do not look this angry and/or badass anymore...
I am not joking, I'm 100% sure I've seen you.
It's always going to be according to every situation, but I've seen fights get ended by the kicker getting punched in the leg. If someone throws out their foot and you punch them in the right spot high up on the leg, they'll wind up hardly able to walk. It's not the best way to win, but it is pretty funny to see.Duck Sandwich said:Haha, now that I look at it, it *does* look like he's punching my leg as opposed to blocking my kick.
