So what's going on with the Post-George Floyd situation?

I still have my doubts it will come to a full-blown civil war for 2 reasons. One, most of these militia types, while still dangerous, have ambitions far exceeding their ability, discipline, resources, time and talent. Most of them are all, "We gonna take over da gub'mint, boyz! Next week!"
Second, there aren't enough of these assholes to start a civil war and even hope to achieve parity of firepower or logistics with the US military. That said, there are enough of them to murder hundreds if not thousands of innocent civilians and we should absolutely be worried about that because every day, Trump puts less and less deniability into his calls for violence.

Let's start at the beginning. What the incoming Trump Administration thought about Police reform. In short, the administration was not a fan. From the outset, Trump (via his mouthpiece at that time, Jeff Sessions) tried the 'few bad apples' technique and said that restricting law enforcement due to these bad actors was 'harmful for officer morale', so he sought to remove the Obama-placed tighter regulations. Which he did. The ideas of building communities with Law Enforcement meant nothing compared to giving them much cooler gadgets to fight gangs!!
Gangs that largely might not even exist, if we follow what's happening in California.
But maybe it's time to talk about some of the protections that were supposed to help police reform. Enter Consent Decrees!
Or, rather exit Consent Decrees. Jeff Sessions made short work of that when he was on his way out.
And we can talk about how after President Trump pontificated on the "Black Identity Extremists", Lo and Behold, they became the top threat in the eyes of the FBI. Above White Supremacists and Al-Qaeda. Without an attack to their name.
And if we're talking about not even being able to protest without being labeled a national threat, how about Trump's adminstration almost shuttering a Federal Civil Rights Agency during some of the most tumultuous times we've seen in race relation for a while.
Just bad timing? Historically bad timing if that were the case, but we have to look at what Trump does. He will blast Football Players exercising their God Given Right to Protest in America, but will "very fine people on Both sides" for Charlottesville.
We're talking about an Administration who we've seen be populated with nothing but yes men to Trump. If you have your own opinion, you're out. If you tow Trump's line, you're golden. So it becomes hard to believe anything other that all these things being Trump's will. A will that took away protections for a minority while strengthening an already overmilitartized Police Force by removing restrictions and oversights.
Oh, you know.... Just this.

In short, when you are not held up to the laws that are written for you, and the absolute boss tells you that not only are you're doing a good job, but he's removing or defanging any legislation that's supposed to keep you in check... you'll do whatever you want.

Your question that they were responding to wasn't about George Floyd. It was about Trump. They answered that question. Don't move the goalposts just because it wasn't the answer you wanted.

Trump talking about the George Floyd protests = having to do with both trump and George Floyd. It isn't hard to understand. You do understand that the protests were about George Floyd don't you? Haven't you been paying attention? I really have to wonder what exactly you think has been going on this entire time? It is like the entire chain of events that were set off from the point in time the police officer murdered George Floyd and the protests all over the world broke out because of that happening went right over your head there.
The title of this thread is "So what's going on with the post George Floyd Situation."
Not "How is George Floyd's family". Not "How is he doing?". We're discussing the situation. The situation that happened after his tragic and needless death. The situation that has sparked a Worldwide Protest and made America out to be the laughing stock that we were always destined to be after the 2016 election.
Trump's removal of oversight and general goading on and support of the Police regardless of how low they are polling Nationwide is exactly what's happening in this situation. It has everything to do with it. You are in a thread of people, not to mention the author of the damn thread, who can see that's what we're talking about. And you don't. Does that mean we're all wrong?
And finally, why are we talking about Trump? Because he's the President of the United States, sadly. He and the administration he picked are actually the people in charge of the Citizenry's welfare. That's why we don't talk about Trump when it comes to our favorite colors, but we do talk about Trump's removal of police guidelines and his lack of leadership when unhinged cops break the rules with no oversight or real repercussions.
