Before I start looking around the internet for some I felt I wanted to ask the escapist where I can find some free audio editing software that can edit mp3s the reason Im doing this is because I need to have looping background music in one of my games and the current music I have is head ache inducing when it is looped so I was going to cut a little bit of the end to make it more loopable

Note: The music license of the music I got
Attribution: You must give credit to the artist.

Noncommercial: You may not use this work for commercial purposes unless you make specific arrangements with the artist under another license.

Share Alike: If you alter, transform, or build upon this music, you may distribute the resulting creation only under a license identical to this one.
so Im allowed to edit

SO long story short where can I get Free audio editing software

I've heard some good things about Audacity [http://audacity.sourceforge.net/?lang=en], but I've never used it myself.

Audacity is pretty good. It's not ultra sexy professional mixing, but will be perfect for what you want. I use it to layer tracks when I record bits and pieces of banjo stuff, but I imagine it can do what you need just fine.

Been using audacity for several years now. I use it to make ringtones for my phone, cut album tracks into smaller versions for Stepmania, I love it.

Audacity is by far the best free DAW (Digital Audio Workplace) you're going to find, I personally use Adobe Audition for mixing and editing. I've also tried Cubase which is also very nice albeit not as straight forward as Audition or Audacity.

If you're just starting out or you're only looking to do basic recording and mixing audacity will be more than sufficient, however if you get more interested in audio mixing/production than it might be worth your time and money to invest in a higher quality DAW.

Also if you have any issues or general questions about audacity or any other DAW feel free to shoot me a message and I'll do my best to help you find whatever you need.
