You do know how the human mind works yes? Assuming you are somewhat human yourself then you would know that EVERY human being is scared of the dark to an extent (unless incapable of feeling fear for whatever reason), and when confronting the jam dripping from the walls and the twisted monsters (if you ever get to look at them close enough, they are really fucked up creatures) I'm pretty sure you would shit your pants and cry for your mother if you were stuck in the dark not knowing what was in there with you. The darkness allows alot of room for imagination, because you cannot justify what is physically before you with a definite visual input, you can only assume the worst when being hunted by "things". All this is part of why madness ensues within the game, along with the mental integrity of the protagonist being rather different from ours.xXxJessicaxXx said:Im curious as to why you go mad if you a. look at the creature and b.are in the dark
I would want to keep an eye on whatever was there and stay in the dark so it couldnt see me. The makers of this game think it would be safer standing in full light with your back to a monster?
It makes no sense and it annoys me :/
I'm not trying to be douchey, believe me, my whole feeling was that I personally would feel safer trying to at least be some measure of stealthy. I think the other person who quoted me had it right that it is a way to make the player feel uncomfortable.DeathStreamer said:You do know how the human mind works yes? I apologise if my reply sounded a bit (or completely) over the top or insulting. After playing the game I can say that not observing the threat at hand did constantly frighten me. "Does it know I'm here? Is it coming to wrench out and feast upon my innards?". I agree with you that the protagonist being a pussy did put me off a bit, but I read reviews and kept with me the idea that I/ the protagonist was supposed to be some vulnerable and scared little boy looking for hope in a hopeless situation. That might help you bear with the strangeness that is insanity within the game. The jam growing around you is, I believe, to aid with the idea that something sinister and twisted is hunting you and lives within the castle/mansion, especially since it hurts you if you touch it.xXxJessicaxXx said:I'm not trying to be douchey, believe me, my whole feeling was that I personally would feel safer trying to at least be some measure of stealthy. I'm not saying it's a bad game as it clearly isn't, but those things aren't something I would do in that situation. It just seems incredibly derpy. As you said the protagonist seems to be a beefburger short of a full barbecue so maybe that is why.
Also the jam coming out the walls kind of ruined the atmosphere for me. It felt like the end level of Tomb Raider :/. It would have been more subtle if they had just left it a mysterious castle.
I think you're forgetting it's a game. Just go with the flow, jeez.xXxJessicaxXx said:This is probably going to sound really douchy but I think thats why it irritates me, the protagonist is a bigger wuss than I am. I always feel like I want to slap him and shout pull yourself together man. I'm a chick so he should feel bad.
