Okay, yeah, I understand your point and attempted to cover my bases when mentioning my ironic comfort with the gore. I think its that the random nudity sticks out like a sore thumb and is impossible to ignore.
If so, that is a problem with the artistic setup then. But not one that's unique to featuring nudity, nor nearly as much of a problem as including a cute breakdancing puppy every five frames would've been.

Yet, funnily enough, it's very often the sexuality thing people are after when discussing how one thematic overshadows or clash with the general storyline. And quite a few times they're right - sex sells, and is thus included in plenty of works where it doesn't belong and have no chance of fitting in naturally - but I for one just habitually question whether there's some sort of puritan agenda behind such complaints, rephrased to glide down more easily.

I liked gantz until
the man kid won and forgot everything and his girlfriend was beyond bland and I was extactic when whe died and wished she stayed dead. And I stopped reading after the vampires became gantz members.[/spoiler

We'll I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's not bad I guess, I was okay with the gore, but why is everyone in that show an asshole? It seems the only decent people in that show is the best friend and the girl.

Easily ranks as one of the worst endings to an anime I've seen - and that's the strongest memory I have of it. Not read the manga (not read any manga for that matter), but I doubt it related much to the anime at that point.

Some nice fight scenes, though. Though quite a lot of pointless stupidity and fanservice served to bring the tone back down.

Oh Gantz.
IMO Gantz borders on pure tasteless material.
Plot is alright, but its instantly hard to care about anything this anime has to offer, because all it does is show nudity and gore.
I don't know about you (as in, other users) but Mature does not equal Nudity And Gore, specially when its handled this carelessly; so yeah, its all so full of juvenile gore and fanservice, wich doesn't really add to the appeal, but rather takes away from an anime that would otherwise be somewhat decent.
It really has the same problem that Dokuro-chan and Elfen Lied has, and that is,IT ruins itself trying to appeal the Mature crowd with such silly (they are silly as far as presentation) assets.
Edit: Forgot to mention the plot manages to make me laugh as in how incredibly silly it becomes later.

Well, despite the bull-shitty ambiguo-ending on the anime, I enjoyed it. I think I was able to work around the unlikable characters and more excessive blobs of fan service because I dug the overall Kafka-esque setup.

I'm glad in the anime, at least, it didn't try to EXPLAIN Gantz or what the fuck was going on beyond game rules, which was one of it's main strengths.

I don't read much manga, and I doubt I'll bother making an exception for this.

I never read the manga.

I saw the anime. it sucks.
I could of been awesome. The concept is so fun.

What destroys it is the lame action that is so poorly... not filmed because it's an anime... drawn??.. produced maybe. I don't know what word to use. Anyway. It suck. The action is slowed by endless dialog. The fighting scenes are just spoiled.

Very disappointing, people should probably read the manga instead.

I liked it because I saw the Abridged version first, then was surprised to find out how similar they were. Some things I thought were just jokes actually happened.
