I'm Jewish. There were no significant good times for any of my ancient ancestors. Going far back is not an option.
My grandfathers during WW Pt. II were a medic on an army hospital ship, and an officer in the Japanese occupation force, (How he became the most whipped man alive is beyond me) so that might be exciting.

Mostly farmers of various nationalities along with some soldiers and vikings (Whoo! Partly Scandinavian heritage!). Though I did have an ancestor who was captured and then drafted into Napoleon's forces and another one who fought for the Union in the American Civil War.
Let's see. Also trenches of WWI, U.S. Navy and Royal Air Force in WWII (both of my grandfathers).
There's also a rumor in my family that we're supposedly descended from the bastard child of King Charles II.
I think I'd find a fair bit of excitement. Especially since I've got British, Irish, Scottish, Russian, and German mixed in with the Scandinavian.

Well from the one part of my ancestors, I'd be an Amish Farmer. For several generations. And the other would be... a german farmer. Probably for several generations again, but perhaps a bit more well to do.
