Facebook, Twitter, Myspace?

What do you think of them?

I loooove Facebook it seems, I love reading status' looking at photo's and all that... not to the extent that I'm addicted though, I could happily go days without going on it.

Reckon they do more harm than good? Ruined your relationship, turn you into a hermit?

I use FaceBook and Formspring.

I rarely go on FaceBook, and I check Formspring fairly often because I only have Escapist friends on there.

FaceBook just comes off as boring to me. Nothing really to do on it.

Don't touch them, don't go near them, well except for myspace but ONLY for upcoming tours and news on bands. That crap is evil, and stupid.

I don't have any of those. I don't even have MSN. I do have xfire though, but I don't really talk to folks on it much. So I suppose the Escapist could count...

Don't really use any of them. I used to use MySpace, used Twitter briefly, and I had a Facebook back when mainly college students used it. I've deleted it now. I prefer to call people, send them an email, talk to them on MSN, or arrange to meet up with them.

I understand that social networking makes everything more convenient, but to be honest, I don't care to keep in touch with most of the people I know. And everyone who matters to me right now, I can contact in another way. Or I see them regularly.

I use Facebook.
I used to go on myspace, but all of my friends stopped using myspace, so I moved to facebook.
I tried out twitter, and I found it to be way to boring for my taste.

It starts so simply online, you edit out one feature about yourself you dislike, then perhaps another.

Then, on a whim, you decide to claim yourself to be in posession of a skill you always dreamt of and perhaps know even a little about.

This foot-in-the-door progression continues until these results occur:

I really don't understand Formspring? Isn't it just "post an annonomous abusive message to someone you dislike"

Or is that just what people I know do? :|

I enjoy having a constant feed of information coming from a bunch of people I know, most of whom I hate. Those are my favorites, in fact-- seeing their shitty, pathetic status updates does wonders for my self esteem. Without Facebook I'd have no way of knowing how right I was about all those losers I went to high school with.

I have a Facebook account with completely fake details (it even uses a dummy email address I made specifically so people couldn't bug me). I also have a twitter account I have never used. Originally I went on facebook with the concept of doing something funny... I got so bored after 2 days I quit and barely check any more. I do resent people putting photos of me on facebook though. I know it is paranoid but I prefer having 100% anonimity on the net including not even having my photo up. Facebook is the perfect place for people who specialise in identity theft and hacking (getting details of peoples personal life to crack passwords/pins etc).

The one thing that has come from it that I don't mind is the Failbook.

I only have Facebook, it's great for sharing photos of events, nights out etc. as well as organising stuff with friends and keeping in touch.

I use Facebook, it's good for keeping in contact with friends. Also, and this is why I like it most, the musicians I listen to have their own pages, of which they update all the time with new albums, singles, tour dates etc. That is damn fucking useful, because I'd have to scrounge the internet for that information otherwise.

I used to use Facebook exclusively until I figured that I should stop supporting Zetterburg (sp?) since he's not *blatantly* evil instead of just implied.

Myspace was never my thing, too much meaningless angst.

I used to hate Twitter, but when I started my site I jumped on to follow some of the people that I wrote about and ended up chatting quite a bit with some of them. It's a useful tool *if* you follow my one rule of Twitter: NEVER go on trending topics. For that matter, never look at the work of the general populace. It's just depressing.

I use Facebook extensively---not as a social networking tool but as a content delivery platform. Facebook offers new and innovative ways to entertain an audience and I'm building a bit of a personal brand around that.

I got roped into Facebook to promote a show I was doing at the time, later on got into facebook games rather too much. I cut off all games a few months later and now only use it to keep in contact with people who seem allergic to the concept of Email.

Oh and keep track of various groups tracking the incompetence and upcoming downfall of the current government of twats.

I use Facebook a lot. It's just a fun way of communicating with people. Sure, I still text and use Skype and occasionally call, but generally Facebook is more entertaining. And recently it's been a great way to meet people I'll soon be going to uni with who otherwise I would not have met until I got there.

It annoys me when people are like "I don't use it because I have real life friends". That's not the case at all. We all still have 'real life' friends...it's just another way to contact them. You don't call someone sad for texting do you?

Downside of Facebook is some of the groups and crap on there but hey, it's the internet.
