State owned factories, no civil rights, a compulsory army, all key points of Hitler's regime and socialism in practicality.
Get your facts right, please. all the points you stated were autonomous from socialism, they were part of Hitler's policy and his alone. you're getting fascism and left wing ideologies mixed up.
Ahem. Give me one socialist country that doesn't enforce those ideas? That's the whole point. Socialism looks good on paper and propaganda, but in the real world it turns to dung.
And are you suggesting the Soviet Union wasn't a socialism driven country? That would turn every historybook ever written upside down and inside out.
Socalism =/ Communism. Case in point; all of the US' Western allies have plenty of socalist systems in place, and all of them are doing better then the US. And none of them are totaltarian regimies like the Soviet Union. How does that evidence support your theory?

thats all I have to say.
1) They weren't socialists; they had Socaliast in their party name for the same reason you see so many dictatorships that have "People's" or "Democratic" in their government names.

2) Hitler ate sugar. Are you suddenly implying that eating sugar makes you evil?

Socialisim leads to communisim.
And what's your evidence for that? Because Ronald Regan said so? Again; how come all of America's Western allies have lot's of socalist system and are still not heading towards communism.

I keep hearing that same arguement over and over again; Gay marriage will lead to legalising beastiality, banning torture will lead to more terrorist attacks, playing video games lead to violence, etc. etc. Not one of these arguements has any sort of proof or critical thinking behind them. All it amounts to is "If we do this, then horrible things will happen! Take my word for it!"

Socialism is not bad for certain aspects of the economy, but converting the entire economy to socialism would be a bad idea. Mainly Socialism is a word that can be used to frighten rich old people into action.
I don't think anyone is advocating complete socalism...

and hitler had a mustache whats your point, socialism works as long as there are check and balances, term limits, and public elections. socialism would work in the Us because of the clearly written bill of rights.

Just because Stalin called himself a communist doesn't mean he wasn't a fascist asswipe

The same applies to the Nazis. By the time of Hitler, the National Socialist Party of Germany had become nothing more than a fascist refuge under the guise of socialism. They really were the OPPOSITE of socialist.

It's bad because your definition is utopian. Utopian places cannot exist, but when people try to make them, bad things happen.

The nazi bit was a joke, because I see one of these threads every 3 days.

Socialism is not good. Why should I have to give someone something just because they were too lazy to get it themselves? This guy is just as capable of working as I am, yet he doesn't. Then I am expected to help him? It's bullshit.
I knew it! I feel better knowing that for once my instincts were right.

Yes folks...once...never ever ask me for directions in the woods. My instincts suck ass.

Unfortunately most people gunning for utopias are psychopathic.

If your average moderate had the power to bring on utopia I'm sure it would be swell. But unfortunately it is usually "We'd have utopia without the blacks or Chinese." Kind of mentalities that pop up.
