Does this apply to modding as well? I can see their team of hack-hunters banning some poor sap because he upped the brightness and resolution on his display. Is it even possible to tell the difference between the two? I mean, that one guy from Battlefeild 3 called adding color to his blue filtered game legitimatly cheating, so I doubt they can...

Good for him, I guess...

The 'you and your family' bit was a touch over the top, but eh, get rid of the cheaters. Not that weather they do or not will effect me, I don't play they're lame little shooter

Cue John getting abducted at a conference, dragged into the toilets by waiters and being told he will call off his rigorous investigation into the hackers, that hes going to publicly state there are no hackers or they will take his balls. They will then inform him that the hackers he is after he depends on; they cook his meals, they haul his trash, they connect his calls, drive his ambulances. They guard him while he sleeps.

Fair play to the guy though, good to see the attitude though its perhaps a tad overkill (mentioning family? really? :p).
+1 for Fight Club reference!!!

this is more interesting to me than the actual game :)
They should gamify it and outsource it to us. >.>

I mean, he's probably talking bigger than he can back up, but still...

It's only a game. A billion dollar industry of milking gamers into buying more games, so the gamer consumers can go back to work the next day and bury dead people again and again and again to make other's people's lives happier.
Welcome to the Consumer-Worker Matrix, Neo.

Work,Spend, Game, Eat, Sleep. Repeat.

Or Hack, Game, Eat, Sleep. Repeat.

Or Make money having fun, Exercise, Game a little with friends, Eat, Sleep. Repeat.

Maybe he went just a little over the top.

Hackers/cheaters are annoying, Yes. Most of them can be described as 13 year olds. Yes. Is it really worth wasting your energy? No, because they'll do it regardless.

Though, you could always be the next Blizzard.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you Stop hacking my game now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

"@Wutzi_bu we don't need to cross reference anything. Use it.. we'll find you. we'll find your family. we'll hunt you down. "

But then he also immediately replies to himself to follow up with...

"@j_smedley @Wutzi_bu or maybe I've been watching the trailer for Zero Dark Thirty too much. seriously we're on this. "

I'm very disappointed in you Escapist, great job at posting only half of the entire Tweet. That is not journalistic integrity and I really think half of you guys making these news posts ought to be reviewed and perhaps removed from Staff. Even better job with you pinheads not looking to see whether you're being told the truth or sold half a bottle of soda. This isn't even the first time you guys have been caught red-handed doing this.

Edit: Also, it would seem he's aware of this. Posted 8 hours ago:

@MeerMusik yeah people are only putting up one half of my full tweet.. Not including the part about Zero Dark Thirty.

In a persistent online multiplayer experience, getting rid of the hackers ISN'T a waste of time. Just a few assholes can ruin the experience for everyone. And here he's saying that Planetside 2 is willing to take out ALL the hackers... I wonder if the hacker hit-squad will display their killcount anywhere.

What I meant was that there's no point going that extra mile. Which half-decent online multiplayer doesn't ban ALL of hackers/cheaters?
