Good snipers are fun to have around.
My problem is bad snipers on team games that are just taking up space and causing problems. You know the type, the shitty players that spend their time a mile away from the battle and can't hit the broadside of the barn but they're too chickenshit to move up and actually get anything done.
Even worse are the ones that have a decent k/d ratio but still aren't actually accomplishing anything because they don't understand why they're being useless despite the fact that they're getting kills. I.e. the retards that are shooting everywhere except at the objective that needs to be defended/blown up.
Once again though, these morons are easy to troll. Smoke grenades do the job wonderfully and so does just flat out counter-camping their hidey holes (cause you know they never leave them like a proper sniper would) and stabbing them relentlessly.

The best solution to remove snipers in games is to make sniping realistic.
this. Make them have to lead, make REAL bullet drop, not that BC crap. Make bolt action or slower rifles be the one shot kills. None of that 50.cal bull. 50 cals are used to snipe from extremely long range, on single targets. Not in the middle of a battle.
A 50 cal wouldn't be bad to have in game assuming they actually modeled it correctly. You cannot properly shoot a .50 BMG Barret from anything but prone.
(I suppose if you had one mounted somewhere that would work too, but I haven't heard of that ever being done)
Realistic sniper rifles would fix a lot of the problems with them, but let's face it: The way "sniper rifles" are used in games is in more of a Designated Marksman role than in the true "sniper" fashion. Maybe if games went in more of that direction with appropriate weapons and none of this quick handling .338 LAPUA/.50 BMG sniper rifle nonsense, things would be better.
