The main problem with snipers on Battlefield Bad Company 2 is that most are terrible and don't bother trying to work in a team... so you get teams of useless lone wolves getting killed over and over... usually by me because they annoy me.
Yeah very true, or when more than half your team is a sniper and they never push towards the objective and lose the game.
Exactly... personally I don't want to ban or limit snipers but the influx of people who think they're amazing by not being able to kill anyone and camping in the middle of nowhere means that team objective based games just become deathmatches with only a handful of people trying for the objective.

Or you can play Battlefield where bullet physics apply.
I do play battlefield... this is from other people who I play battlefield with.
Just create a custom game where snipers aren't included. It's so easy to do, I do that when I play online, even the original Halo (which despite it's age has a large following and mod community on PC). I use snipers myself a lot, but if I don't want a particular weapon I just make my own custom game for people to join, without that weapon. It's not exactly hard...

As far as playing with snipers on your team who always die, those people who you play with presumably have no idea what snipers are actually like. Realistic sniping in-game or not, snipers in real life usually always work in pairs - a shooter and a spotter. The shooter sets up the shot and fires the weapon, they get the kill, while the spotter is there to help out with the targeting, keep the area clear and make sure they aren't found, and generally act as a teammate looking out for the shooter. Plus, when a sniper takes a shot, if they need to take another they'll move and pick a new place to fire from. Not to mention, snipers will usually act as one team with another as backup, so if one sniper fails the shot can still be made. None of these things ever get considered in games...

Then again, if I had to have a whining 10-year-old kid watch my back, not knowing whether or not he'll TK me and steal the weapon to get the kills himself, every time I set up in the cliffs on Blood Gulch... I'd probably sell every shooter I own and dedicate my life to point-and-click adventures (also a great gaming genre) right this very minute...

I suppose if someones wants to think they are pro it would be because they are good at playing the sniper class, not because they play it. I will admit that the sniper class is my usually my favorite class in shooting games. The sniper in Team Fortress 2 to me is the best one I have played.

The only two things about snipers that i hate is these:
1) when I am playing a match where I am the only non sniper. I have little chance there.
2) when they have names like 'xXxUbaQu1kSc0peMa5terXx
3) when they are on my team, the last man remaining on Search and Destroy, have the enemy in sight, then proceed to do four spins, an attempt at a no scope, another spin, a quickscope and then just get shot by a more sensible player.
