So, I just got my 360 less then 30 min ago and then did the set up. Once I got to the login, I recovered my gamertag due to having a GFWL acc. Now, do I still get the month free of gold?

I think you only get the trial if the account was created on the console.

Fairly certain you need to create the account on the console, the plus side is, you can create it anytime.

I have friends who have used that when they are short on cash and can't renew their live accounts right away.
