People wouldn't comment on it; it's not a Skyrim thread.

It's true. I only really came into this thread because it had "Skyrim" in the title. I was hoping to find some conversation about Mudcrabs.

Is that why you got me a mudcrab farm for my birthday? Is this your way of telling me I need to shower? Damn passive-aggressive roommates.

Think if star wars had skyrim, there would be no rebellion. All those kids would have a game to play. I would have saved so many lives.

Honestly, this is kind of like telling someone who just saw The Sistine Chapel, or the Rothko Chapel, or some other non-chapel related work of incredibly beautiful art to talk about someone else. As Gamers, I don't think there can be any denial that The Elder Scrolls series as a whole has been a triumph of the art form. If a lot of people are talking about Skyrim, it's because they've just been exposed to a brilliant work of art. Is it pretty similar to this artist's previous pieces? Yeah, there's a lot of similarity. But there's still so much that's unique too. What we have then is a series of pieces which grow and become better by building on the previous works. The end result is something so brilliant that it's impossible for those people who have fallen in love with it not to talk about it.

Don't worry, in time it will pass. But for now, be patient and let us have our moment in the sun.

Actually, you only want to talk about Skyrim, otherwise you could make a thread about something else, or spend a whole 10 seconds clicking the FORUMS tab and perusing the other threads.

I understand why there were so many skyrim threads when it came out, I mean, come on, there are tons of bethesda fans here. But seriously, I am trying to find other topics either about game mechanics or game writing or games that I actually own. And it's almost nothing but skyrim threads. I was under the impression that game discussion meant more than one game. Calm down about skyrim already.

I think you're on the right track. Perhaps intead of a Skyrim section, they should have a 'featured game' section, which revolves as games become popular and unpopular again. Skyrim would probably be there until Mass Effect 3 comes out, and all the (new) Skyrim related threads could be dumped there, so that the rest of the Escapist can get on without it.

That might work, but just asking everyone not to make the threads won't work.

Maybe because nobody is starting a thread on the other games you are interested in? Maybe instead of creating a thread complaining that there are so many Skyrim threads you should put that energy into creating a thread based on the subject matter you are interested in discussing. thats what forums are for. If someone wants to discuss Skyrim but the subject of discussion is not another thread then they start one, try it sometime for what you want to discuss.
