Ok, I'll be short and sweet in the hope of a bit of a quicker reply, I've had a cough for nigh on two months now, not a little tickle either, people next door can here me (it's a terrace house, so might not mean much), however tonight seemed to elevate it to a new level, trying to sleep I had a coughing fit so hard i thought I brought up some blood, with the lights on and a closer (unfortunate) inspection, I discovered it was (only) sick, either way not a nice experiance.

So the question, should I try and move up my doctors appointment from Wednesday to Tuesday, it's 4am Tuesday here at the moment, I ask as I'm not really sure, and, I ask here because 99/100 times you all give a serious answer.

Answer away please

Get to the doctor ASAP. If you can move up the appointment, do so. Tell us how it goes.

EDIT: If you do get in on Tuesday, get some sleep.

Get to a doctor asap. If something is keeping you up at night, it can't be good.

I would do it, however, if your doctor can't be reached, i would go to a walk in clinic if there's one near you or drive to your local hospital, walk up to the desk and say you think you might be coughing up blood *might take you as a priority over the dude next to you with the sniffles*

DON"T DELAY! One's health should never be overlooked.

I think the advice so far has been good; get there as soon as possible. It's probably nothing life-threatening, but much better safe than sorry.

You're obviously worried enough about this cough to make this thread. Obviously if you think that it's serious you should go to the doctor as soon as possible-- not exactly much to be discussed here. Good luck with that.

Check your neck for bumps, if you feel them then you most likely have a respiratory infection from enlarged lymph nodes. If you don't... Best of luck to you.

Get to doctor as soon as possible.

No brainer here, see a doctor, can't afford it? Come to the ER in Canada, but be prepared for a long long wait.

Just got back from A & E, I left after about 4:30am, after 10 hours, the nice NHS doctors have no idea why I coughed up blood, say I'm generally healthy, put "retired" in my occupation, kicked me off a bed for another patient to use even though I was sleeping. all in all i was a pretty negative experience from 7am onwards.

At least I'm alive, although I have to go back, I may not be after then, damn them.

That's the NHS for you...

Hope it clears up soon. I had a cough for 58 days back in August/September; not as bad as yours, but annoyed the crap out of me.

Get to a doctor ASAP. But why are you asking us? You should have reached this conclusion by yourself:)

All I can think of is signing up for BUPA, they'll probably sort it out way better than the NHS can. Mind you, so can most people.

Is there a specific reason you didn't go, like, a month and a half ago?

Trying to wait it out or something?

I had a scary notion when checking this thread that it was a new zombie thread.

...

You're not going to infect us, are you?

(That means, you should have seen a doctor weeks ago. I know how it is though, I should have gone to a doctor years ago, for several things.)

advise is a verb
advice is a noun

when someone advises you they give you advice

Anyway, report to the nearest general medical practitioner. Methyl vapor lozenges may be helpful too.

ie go to the doctor and use some cough drops

Bah Doctors! Everyone knows the cure is to get as drunk as possible and not sober up till the infection is gone it will make your body so hostile the infection can't stay and even if it does you wont care; as a bonus if you start puking blood again you will know the cause.

Okay if you didnt realise the above paragraph was indeed a joke using psuedo-science, I apolagise about making fun of your condition and know htat I am a terrible person (*looks asahmed*)

Seriously though? I did have something similar to this for months in which I would cough all the time, wake myself (and my housemates) up coughing so hard I couldnt breath and started retching, I could hear a whistling noise when I was breathing and occasionally made a noise I can only describe as a death rattle. I ignored it as best I could and it went away; none of my housemates caught whatever it was either so I assume it was some form of chest infection. I would suggest a GP rather than A+E if they have turned you down.

I've had similar experiences and its best for you if you get to the doctors as soon as you can. If youre being sick and being kept up at night you definently need to see a doc.
