Near The Parenthesis, nee Tim Arndt, will forever remain one of those artists that I simply do not understand how he's not stupidly famous. His music is so achingly beautiful, thoughtful, whimsical, and dream-like; it's like if one were to prescribe a soundtrack to an abstract painting. My greatest fear is that his lack of recognition will kill his motivation to release his work, but my greatest hope is that he is an artist enough to not let recognition be the metric that determines his willingness to share his vision.

From 1937, choice lyrics include "I'm a Ding Dong Daddy baby, and liquor is my racket. Lots of times when things are dull I deal in other traffic. I can sell you morphine, coke, or snow, take a little shot and you're raring to go!"

Artificial Intelligence is my new favorite artist, and that's not a good thing. But some good has come from this unorthodox phase of SkyNet's takeover; from the comments on the Eminem video: "I end up paying more attention to the lyrics and realise how good Eminem is at writing ." And it's true. I'm a huge fan of Eminem, but ask me anything about Korn, Nickelback, or Metallica, and all I could tell you is that they exist, but I enjoy AI's take on their music enough that I find myself listening more intently. Yes, I'm technically NOT listening to those artists, but I hear more when I'm not dismissing their version because the genre generally doesn't appeal to me. Imagine if you took a KKK member to a "Whites Only" restaurant that surreptitiously served only Black soul food and didn't tell him; he'd eat himself into a food coma. Crude analogy, but that's me in this case.

The original is already a beautiful song, but her version, fuck, when it takes off around the 2:10 mark, I think I might like this better than the original.

Posted for absolutely no reason at all, particularly not in relation to any world wide events that are definitely not happening right now (the guy who would have been doing said thing, that isn't happening, is in the clear, as he said that he wouldn't do said thing, after repeatedly talking at length on the topic of doing said thing, and what would he do, lie? Right to your face? Gethefucouta here, be real please. Other people can't be that cruel and unusual, you silly goose you):

Also, fuck it, posting this one too since my browser/this very website itself and had a real impeccable sense of humor and timing here by randomly bringing this exact youtube link back from however long ago I orginally posted it to this forum, this gem that fell in my lap while trying to post the above song:

You know what?

Fuck it

It's sure as shit not a perfect world, and (just looked down in the corner at the clock on my, only just now, barely finished/final touches to get started, computer, and realized that we are about to hit the 5th(!!! Jesus this year shat itself to death quicker than my computer did this morning, 2020 at least took until March or so to get really bad, and even the Ukraine war had the courtesy to wait to start until February) day of 2026 or at least close to it, because) while it's close to, it's not yet midnight.

But I want to post some good music anyway, so eh, fuck it, here's to either a better future or a quick end to this shitty world, whatever comes, either way, enjoy some choice tunes that I personally like quite a bunch, and maybe you will too:

Here's to a Happy New Year, because, as the great, late, Sir Terry Pratchett once wrote about in the book of the same name, there's a reason "May you live in interesting times!" is a curse, because everyone better hold onto their butts, keep their hand inside the vehicle at all times, and enjoy the fucking ride, cause shit got real interesting, real quick and will only become more so over the coming days...

Cheers!

Wasn't certain if I should put these in the "Things that make you smile" thread or here, but either way I enjoyed finding these a couple of days ago and needed the smile.

Everything IS music. A dripping faucet, a car alarm, slushing in the dishwasher, everything is a metronome inviting a beat and imagined melodies. Just ask my girlfriend; she's actually conditioned to question when I DON'T jump in with a beatbox when rhythmic ambient noise pops off.

"Bad guy" by Billie Eilish apparently uses an altered form of the noise Australian pedestrian crossing make.
