*aren't, not isn't

I dunno if Pendulum is techno, but their songs ('specially Slam) are pretty good. Also Zombie Nation by Kermkraft 4-something.

Darude (guy who did Sandstorm) is Finnish btw.

I don't know what the strict definitions for techno are, but:
Aphex Twin
&
Daft Punk

VNV nation they are IDM/INDUSTRIAL but they're still from the long vague off-shoot of techno.

You can try looking at this to see if you like anything in here. When it comes to techno, different people consider different sounds cool.

I don't know too many group names. I usually just listen to a song and instantly forget what the band name is. Believe it or not, some of the best techno I've ever heard was on a website for...furries. Don't ask.

EDIT: You should edit your post to tell us some groups you already like, so that this can be easier. Also, you should check out Various. They did some of the music for Red Alert 2, and they are really good.

Tiesto (Recommended: "Adagio For Strings", "Feel It In My Bones")
The Prodigy (Recommended: "Invaders Must Die", "Fire", "No Good (Start the Dance)")
Paul van Dyk (Recommended: "Nothing But You (Berlin Mix)")
MSTRKRFT (Recommended: "1,000 Cigarettes")
Justice (same genre as Daft Punk)(Recommended: "Genesis". "D.A.N.C.E")
The Crystal Method (Recommended: "Born Too Slow", "weapons of Mass Distortion")
DJ Mangoo (Recommended: "Eurodancer")

Aphex Twin (you'll also find more from him under his real name, Richard D. James) is much more laid back, with his selected ambient works being his best stuff in my opinion.
From Pendulum, I recommend Hold Your Colour, The Other Side, and Out Here

And the song is Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation. The notable version is the live soccer chant mix which features the "Wooah wa-ah-oh" etc.

I don't know what kind of techno this guy likes. I was really wishing he would tell me he likes. If it makes you feel good, Various is a good techno group, and so is Bass Hunters (I know, I have hardly heard of them, too).

EDIT: Damn, I really butchered that snip-job the first time I tried it.

Super quote
You can't really jump on them much for using blanket terms, since there are TONS of Genres and Sub-Genres that encompass all the different styles when it comes to electronic music. (Though you are right in defending to the true meaning of techno, don't get me wrong)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres

Most people tend to use techno as the general term since it was the root of it all and it's much easier to type or say than electronic music.

I'd venture to say that I'm familiar with more than most of them too.
Then you must have MUCH more patience than I ever will. That many different genres just drives me insane

Edm is correct and easier to type then techno.
True, though you always hafta hope people know what EDM is. I will try and start using it though.

Do you want Techno or are you just, incorrectly I might add, using the term "Techno" to refer to "Electronica" or "Electronic Music" which is the root genre?

Calling all electronica "techno" is like calling all Rock n' Roll "Thrash Metal". For instance, you wouldn't call the Beatles "Thrash metal" because they aren't.

If you want Techno I recommend picking up some Detroit Techno. If you want electronic... I'd say you have a lot to learn first.
