I am doing some work in school about schizophrenia and I was just wondering if anyone here had any first hand experience about it. Facts are all well and good but I just wanted to know what someone who experienced it would have to say, I'm really trying to portray it in a respectful, realistic way.

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by extreme paranoia and possibly hallucination of the visual or verbal nature.

My great aunt once let out a dozen mice because she thought they told her to open the cage.

They don't have to be paranoid. That a whole sub-illness. If I remember correctly it's actually difined as a non-affective illness(non-emotional) with hallucinations as the prime symptons. (off course this may be non-true, becouse theré is actually some difference in how some mental illnesses are, depending on where in the world you live. Not sure if this is the case here)

To be honest(not to put don anybodys knowledge of this subject) I think you´ll have more luck finding objective stuff, by hitting the books.

That being said I', sure a lot of people have some stories or experiences, if that is what you are after.

One of my mother's cousins murdered his father and brother during an episode of schizophrenic psychosis. One of my high school friends was schizophrenic but medicated. He had some drug problems though.
