...well, the only thing on the list I can't do well is ride a horse. I'm more apt to kill and eat one. Between my own two feet and a bicycle, though, I can outpace most horses through any terrain except open grassy plains... and I hate open grassy plains (fortunately, I don't live near any).
I'd be amazed if you could out-run a (decently fit) horse on foot. On a bike I could believe (presuming you were a very good bike rider) but no way could you beat one in a foot race.
Over what terrain? On pavement or packed dirt, that's why I mentioned the bike (I can maintain about 25mph for a few miles on level ground). Through thick undergrowth and trackless forest, I can certainly outpace a horse. Up the side of a cliff, they can't even follow me. Across a river, same thing. That pretty much covers all of the terrain around here. Horses are next to useless where I live.
Through forest and thick undergrowth there'd be sections where a horse would slow but it would beat you because of the speed it can hit clear sections, climbing a cliff, well that's not very fair and I would be willing to bet a really fit horse could beat you on a pack over packed dirt, definetly in an endurance.

Hmm, depends on the type of horse really... I know they're not horses but I've met a few trecking ponies who could at least have a good stab at getting through that.
Hm. Never seen one of those. I doubt they could make it through as quickly as a fairly agile human being, though.

...Well, yeah, that was kind of my point. I don't really like the fact that I would be considered somehow a lesser man because I can't fulfil a list of traits and feats.

The human race is a diverse species - the male gender of that species is equally diverse. It's a little unfair to assume that all of them will be able (or even willing) to do all these things.
At what point to I say you have to do these things? I'm not going to come to your house, knock down your door and demand you perform for me. These are useful abilities, that you should know, nothing more, nothing less.

This is not to say we are to be disrespectful or arrogant. A real man is strong, but humble. Proud, but not arrogant. Civil and not disrespectful. Courageous, yet gentle. Firm, but understanding. Loyal and unshakable. A true man's values are made of honor, integrity, and love. He is inseparable with the Truth and will never compromise.

It's a shame that some of us use our personality to take advantage of those who are weaker. Used purely, and with a just cause, a righteous man is incredibly sought after.
Very true, and worth recognising, but it's too existential for the list.

I can cook, clean and gut a fish, build a fire, perform CPR Thrown and Take (God, can I take a punch)

Everything else? To hell with.

Also, I can deal with kids.

You know when you get down to it a lot of the things on that list are things PEOPLE should be able to do as a basic life skill.

It doesn't hurt to reference the manual, and IMHO, more people could stand to do so.
If people need to use the manual then by all means do, but there are alot of times when you should be able to make things work your way (If they fail then let whoever was reading the manual the entire time (Since some usually is) do it :) )

I've built alot of things without instructions (The person reading the instructions said I missed a few steps, which is why I had spare parts) and have also got the the point where cooking becomes a intuition rather than following a recipie or cooking guidelines.

But the feeling one gets from disregarding instructions (Also getting any women watching complaining about men never use instructions) and making things work is pretty good.

I can't read through three pages looking for this one specifically, but if you're not a veggie, you really must cook and eat something you've killed.

And the bike thing.....I've got it covered!

Edit: And split firewood. Every man should split firewood at least once in his life. It's kind of fun, once you learn the trick.
I split like three whole trees worth of firewood this week.

It was super easy. All you need to do is put a piece of wood in front of the splitter and push both the levers forward. The hydraulic piston takes care of the rest. :p

OT: At least one method of killing someone with your bare hands. (Or feet or whatever)

I know you're not saying I have to, but the list is a list of things that all men should be able to do. Granted, I'm still very young so I have a lot of time to learn the remaining skills should I so choose, but my point is that I wouldn't want to be considered less of a man (or maybe even not a man at all) if I weren't able to do them.

Less masculine in the typical sense - yeah, I can gree with that. But less of a man, not so much.

Polish his boots
Field strip an AK47 (or similar weapon)
Construct an IED..

And that about covers everything a man should be able to do..

I joke, I'd say there isn't anything every man needs to be able to do.. no exceptions..

I don't think we should assign things to sex's. It pisses me off that people should expect things from a sex. >_>
Yeah, my sentiment exactly.
Why am I less of a man if I do not know how to punch things properly? And what am I more of, assuming I am still a whole? *Am* I still a whole?

Ah, but could you construct that splitter yourself? :p

Easy enough. You know that twisting technique they use to break necks in the movies? Incomplete. What you have to keep in mind when doing that is this: lift to separate vertebrae and stretch cartilage... then twist and jerk backwards to sever the spinal cord with the vertebrae.
