I remember something similar happening in china and that individual was beaten by apple security because of it...

I really hope same won't occur, but, as for new model. Very promising!

I winder how Apple Is going to react to this.

That's funny.

But why is this a problem for Apple? It's not like it will make a difference on who buys it now, is it?
I agree. Apple, if anything, should be glad this happened, as those that are continually milked by support the company's great products will know that this means it's time to same some dough, since this thing already sounds expensive.

They have a bit of a reputation for flipping out at stuff like this. I mean look at 4 and 3 in the following list:

http://www.cracked.com/article_18377_5-reasons-you-should-be-scared-apple.html

I mean we might not see it as that big a problem to US but to them its a huge deal that requires torture, violence and the end of the earth as we know it (for one of Apple's employees).

And on the Article. Thats actually pretty funny. And kind of unlucky. Still of all the ways to leak anything, this way is pretty epic.

Wait, why would he forget it at a bar? At which point did it seem like a good idea to take out something super secret out of your pocket and "forget" it somewhere? Unless it's just another publicity stunt.

Actually it was Foxconn's security that caused the death of that guy. Apple doesn't actually manufacture the phone, they just design it. If you ever see the back of an iPhone it says Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China

This happens all the time with Apple, I'm guessing people are getting paid to lose them, I'm pretty certain that all new model prototypes have been left in a bar (apart from the 1st 2g model).

Since the Chinese story, these prototypes have been in existence for at least 6 months, and I can't imagine Apple having somebody lose not even knowing if it would reach the press.

Also, the Chinese story actually works AGAINST your argument, because I can't imagine a publicity stunt for an IPhone in which a guy kills himself, a company is accused of a brutal beating, and absolutely no details of the product the stunt is for gets released.

Oh man, someone is so screwed. Steve Jobs is gonna fire this guy. Out of a cannon.

Into the sun.

And all I can think of is Will Ferrell's Angry Boss sketch from SNL.

"YOU OUGHTA SCALP YOU! I SHOULD FIRE YOU AND BURN DOWN YOUR FRIKKIN' HOUSE!! I AM THIS CLOSE TO RAPING YOU!!!"

Probably not a publicity stunt, unless the "lost in a bar" part is part of the big lie. What are the odds of a phone left in a bar - that looks almost exactly like another phone already on the market - somehow winding up in the hands of a tech news site? I'd sooner expect it to land in a pawn shop. No one would use that as a valid method of getting product out unless they had someone from their target stationed to "find" it the second it was "lost". So someone lost their test model and dumb luck landed it at a tech site. So someone's probably cowering now waiting for Jobs to come by with the metaphorical (literal?) axe.

Just my opinion, though. As to my excitement level? Let's see, I'll take out the cheapass phone I got for free with my contract. Very few features and I've disabled half the ones it does have. (Dials out.) Oh, look, it still dials out. My feature set requirements are fulfilled. So, no, I literally can not care less about the new iPhone.

I find this funny. I mean, I lose stuff from time-to-time but still find the humor in watching something valuable get lost.
Schadenfreude... I guess?

To all those who say 'publicity stunt' notice in the Gizmodo articles' video, if you would, the MICROSOFT PEN.
They wouldn't advertise one of their main competition, now, would they?
