Someone at your back...

In my time here, I've seen quite a bit happen. Though, there is one thing in particular that I have seen that I found utterly fascinating.

One time, I found that someone else had logged on to someone's account to explain to those of us who RPed or knew them.

This made me wonder...do people have their backs covered were they to become depressed, get in an accident, or otherwise?

I know that I don't have anyone to cover me if I were to disappear from here for a time. Does anyone else have a backup plan?

That's something that's been on my mind lately, actually. I just need to find somebody who I can trust with my online persona and reputation :p

Never really thought about it. I'd be able to find someone to do it though.

I don't, only a couple of my friends know I visit the Escapist regularly but covering me probably hasn't crossed their minds.

Seems no one really has a plan.

Except for Marter, who apparently could find someone in an instant.

I don't have anything arranged, but I could count on someone to explain what happened were I to ask.

I have someone
But, tbh, of all the places and people that'd need to know, a forum is low on my list :p

Quite true....

But then again, a majority of people who you would want to know could likely be informed via social networking site or whatever.

Were I to ask, I know who I'd go to, but I don't know any escapists in real life, apart from a few people who watch ZP (how do you think I found this place).

However, I'm not sure I would - of all the places to notify in the event of some kind of accident affecting me, the escapist doesn't really register. I guess I'm not known enough here for me to feel it would be needed.

EDIT: I would, however, give someone my facebook info before going on a potentially dangerous trip/whilst dying after preventing the zombie-machine apocalypse. Again. Mostly because that's a good way to inform people I know in real life that something's gone wrong.

I'd never have anyone log on as[/I] me, As most of my friends would make it their mission to get me banned if they had my log in info (they're like that) - But i've got ways of talking to other escapist members so if i was ever completely incapacitated, My cousin has an account on here, im sure he'd get the word out.

(Not that im sure most of you would be too distraut)

Nah, no one really. But don't worry, in the event of my heart stopping for more than 5 minutes my computer is programmed to send a pm to everyone on the Escapist informing you that I am "afk for a bit".

Nope, so such person here. Not sure that anyone would have my back if something happened IRL either...
The different parts of my life are so fundamentally incompatible so not one person can really deal with it. Not even me sometimes! xD

Not that I would think it would be any of your business unless I choose to tell you in person.

Hm. OK.

So, the general consensus is that it really shouldn't matter (With a few exceptions to the rule) Interesting. Though then again, I guess a lot of people hold the "I don't care about people on the internet" things going for them.

My backup plan involves me saying "Screw being incapacitated, I'm going on my computer".

It's really fun doing that (I've done it a few times) but everytime I got slapped with "If you're well enough to go on a computer, you're well enough to go to school" to which I always reply "Well one is me sitting on a comfy chair and moving my fingers, the other requires walking, running, sitting on hard chairs (That have given me back problems), moving all my arms/neck/legs/pretty much every muscle whilst also having to concentrate." to no avail...
