OT: A common misconception is that the cheetah is the fastest animal in the world. In fact, that title belongs to the Peregrine Falcon, which can reach speeds in excess of 200 mph (320 km/h) in a dive.
Am I the only one that thinks that shouldn't count? I can hit 200 kph in a dive, but that doesn't mean I'm faster than a cheetah. Just seems weird is all.

If you drop a penny from the top of the empire state building, the wind will blow it onto ledges below, although even if it did not do this the penny's terminal velocity is not high enough to kill you
While technically true, it's actually because the penny's mass is insufficient to any damage, not really it's speed. It's mass that packs the wallop.
Tell that to bullets.

Force equals mass times acceleration. Both are key factors.

Well the mass affects the terminal velocity, so we're both right ;)

Indeed we are, then why did I post that? I have no idea. It's pizza time, I believe.

Mass does not really affect terminal velocity the pull of gravity is 32' per second per second on all objects.

Density plays some role due to the fluid properties of the atmosphere but not mass directly.

Density equals mass per unit volume. Density (both of the fluid and fluid-borne object) is the main factor at play.

:D Absolutely. I just meant that mass is not directly responsible for a difference in terminal velocity. A Blimp is far more massive than a pebble but a pebble falls a lot faster. I was just being anal and pointing out that mass as a factor on its own is not relevant.

Also I used it as a reason to post a cool fact that was on topic: the pull of gravity on Earth.

Also also this is surprisingly fun.

There are between 200 and 400 billion stars in the Milkey Way. Feel insignificant yet?

Indeed you are correct on all fronts. I haven't talked to anyone about physics for a long time and I've missed it dearly. We shall be chums from this day forth.

Thomas Edison had a serious beef with Nikola Tesla. Tesla once worked with Edison on developing alternating current (or AC) to power homes with electricity but then left the project when he realized Edison was a jackass. Tesla developed direct current(or DC) which turned out to be far superior than AC (because your homes are all powered by DC today).

That didn't stop Edison from being dickhead of the century. He held public rallies where he rigged DC power lines to look like shit by publicly electrocuting animals with DC power.

Thomas Edison = fuckface mcgee

When performing "kaishaku" (acting as second for some undergoing ritual seppuku), you're supposed to leave a strip of skin at the front of the victim's neck to prevent the head from rolling around inelegantly after it's been severed.

There is a whole other spectrum of emotions which are triggered by the heart beating at varying speeds at different times. Very few people will ever experience these emotions, and the ones will experience it when they are having a pacemaker check.

Actually, it's the other way around, Tesla developed AC current, which is what we use to power pretty much everything today.

Indeed, Edison was a total prick.

When you land your air plane in Amsterdam, you're 4,5 meters below sea level.
In fact, without proper usage of dykes The Netherlands would look like this:

With the white parts being the ones that are not flooded with seawater.

Another cool fact, I live in one of those save zones! yay me.
Cool fact !! I live in the part that floods first -.- ..
I live in Zeeland (bottom left, above Belgium).
But who cares !!! O's bin de zeeuwen

Oopsies, I mixed it around. I posted this before devouring my daily amount of 2 gallons of coffee. Good call sir.

the "star" betelguese is not actually a star but a cluster of galaxies giving it its reddish color opposed to straight white.
No it's not, it is a star, a red supergiant, I don't know where you heard that but it's wrong. Something interesting about it though is that when it goes supernova it will be a bright as the sun. And even cooler it may happen within our lifetimes.

I've driven over the Zeelands before, big bridges between them.

They have some of my favorate named towns there :)

Hellevoetsluis is the best, but I like Kamperland (because I imagine it's where half of the people playing COD live) and Steenburgen.

was Jonas Grumby.
