have you ever had something happen to you that only appears in books (Or so it seems)? Something that people say is like a one-in-a-million chance?

I have, and here it is. I am adopted, along with my brother. Well, a government agency got in contact with us because of an apparent genetic disorder that was passed down through our family (duh). They asked us if we wanted to contact our BIRTH mother about it. I was stunned and said 'sure'!

They got us the number and address.

My birth mother, who I had not seen in over 20 years...lived 2 blocks away.

So escapist, have you ever experienced something impossible like that?

(Off topic: someone has been scribbling weird lines on my Captcha)

I'll really be surprised if anyone can top the OP.
Dude, I can top that. Today, I was getting an ice-cream bar from a vending machine, and two of the ice-cream bars were stuck together, so I got TWO BARS from using ONE DOLLAR!

Life is full of miracles...

Damn Op way to make a thread with such a high set bar... ummm..... I was talking to a recruiter and I told him my name and he said that he and my dad were in the Navy together. Which is wired because when he signed my dads year book he said he was getting out of this in 3 more years. Yet I met him, sucks I had to tell him he is dead.

I was once almost struck by lightning.

I know, not a big deal, but it seemed like it to me, since I took a step forward and i hear is this huge boom, the air feeling a bit... different (I guess the best way is to say charged, but then tahts kinda vague and not exactly the best way to describe it), being thrown a bit, and a blackened hole where I was before.

I dont know, I think its about the most extraordinary thing I've had happened to me.

Er, not really. My life has been kind of mundane compared to some of the stories above and below me.

YOU SHALL NOT PASSSSSS!

OT: I've had some serious things happen to me that I do not care to say here, but do speak of divine providence.

It sounds like such a scam, lol:
A 'government agency' contacted YOU about your 'apparent genetic disorder' and gave you the contact info of your 'birth mother'. Now, for the low price of just $50,000, they can give you the cure!

I don't know. I've got a really cool job I guess. I'm paid $10 an hour to watch an autistic kid in my neighborhood. So basically I get paid $10 an hour helping an autistic kid play Zelda: OoT.

Extraordinary indeed, I doubt anyone will top it, sadly I do not have a story of my own, I wouldn't say that my life has been ordinary or mundane but one thing it's certainly not it's extraordinary, the most unexpected thing that has ever happened to me is when I got mugged and the mugger turned out to be my old neighbor, we realized mid rob and then he started to pretend it was all a joke, kinda hard to believe when he almost stabbed with a knife while claiming he was going to kill me if I didn't hand over my money.

This girl that I have a crush on has a bunch of parallels and odd connections to my life, the count ranges in the dozens. An odd amount of her close relatives living very close to me, her projected birthdate being the same as mine(her mother had her born a week or two earlier), and generally odd things like a video produced by people with the same name as us being shown in the only class we both take.

If I were a more spiritual man I would call it fate, but I just chalk it up to coincidence.

Well here's my little bit of something extraordinary.

A few of years back I decided to kill myself by taking a bunch of aspirin (to thin my blood) then slitting my wrist. I was at college at the time, and there was a circle K next to the parking lot so I went in got a Pepsi, and some cigarettes, that took me about five minutes. I then went outside, and sitting on a little white wall was some guy praying, when I saw that I no longer had the urge to kill myself. I got really pissed off because I still wanted to die so I went blowing past the guy, and as I passed I heard a voice telling me to ask him why he was praying, and I said (in my head) to this voice NO!! and kept on walking. The voice kept on nagging me so I stopped, and said (still in my head) I'll turn around if he's still praying I'm not gonna talk to him. I turned around, and the guy was just finishing. so (very, very, very, reluctantly) I went up to the guy, and asked why he was praying, and this is what he said:
"Well you know it's a sin to pray in public, and Christ tells us to pray in our closet, but God told me to start praying. I asked about what, and God said just pray." I walked off amazed, and feeling a like an asshole. Usually I have something to say to God even if it's just a quick and angry FINE YOU WIN, YA HAPPY!?! but this time I had nothing I just slowly walked away.

My girlfriend and I lived 6,000 miles from each other our whole lives, but then she just happened to move from Denmark to my town of less than 200,000 for a year, in the western US, and just happened to be a friend of my friend on facebook. I messaged her, we started dating, and 8 months later we're still in a relationship.

That's about all I got. Can't really top the OP.

Can't top Mr. Chinangel, but...
I had to pick up my friend from a party. She was at some random girls house. So, I plugged it into Google Maps and it ended up that the girl lived a 20 minute drive from me. I looked at the map, and she lived about 3 minutes away by walking.

Lol, no. The genetic disorder has to do with a predisposition to a fatal disease. my mother has it, and there is no cure. So I just enjoy the time I have with her. ^^

I have friends. True friends. Who would do everything they can to keep me in their life and whom I would do anything to keep in my life. That's enough of a miracle for me. AND even more miraculous I trust them.

I was walking to my job and somebody put 20$ in my empty coffee mug. I think it was because they thought I was homeless but it was cool at the time
