The haters complain they all stay the same while the fans all complain that they're not like what they used to be

it's true

Really? Because I'm a hater and I think that they need to go back to FFIII's gameplay.

Because fans have that one game that's their favourite and hate everything that is even slightly different.

I hate it because it is not fun. Period, not because it is all the same that's Clarey a bigoted statement. Granted, story lines might deal with the same themes, but, there are obvious differences.

As in VI or III Because if you mean VI I agree.
-snip-
AGH While I agree III had great gameplay the remake of III was just awful!
How so? Aside from the laughable 3D graphics, the core gameplay was just as brilliant as it was originally.

To many of the mechanics changed and it felt so dumbed down. It just wasn't the same game.

The thing with Fanboys is if you show any opinion other than theirs, then you get labeled a hater, lord forbid if you actually believe that a series of 13 games that has one great game to its name and the rest mediocre, is a pretty piss poor return for fans who have spent a fortune on the brand.
The kicker is then the fanboy will turn around and agree with you that it hasnt been the same since VI or III, but you are still a hater because dammit you just arent dumb enough to buy a shit series of games after the 2nd or 3rd disappointment.

I don't give one tenth of a damn about not being like the old ones. What I dislike is the nauseating characters and bloated narrative endemic in these kind of games.

Perhaps the writing is better in the original Japanesse, perhaps something is lost in translation, but dear god

They aren't the same from story and gameplay perspectives.

Each one is masterful in my opinion. OPINION.

Lightning: People that hate most things usually cannot justify it.
While I agree with you and your opinion of the FF games, FFXIII's ending fell flat for me and seemed very...defeatist? I don't know, it just didn't feel like an ending, it was too inconclusive.

The OP actually speaks some sense, however each game does something better, but falls short on something else. Basically, for every step forward, the FF games take one step back.

Final Fantasy became less about fantasy and adventure and more of a medium of fan-service once the generational shift from Nintendo to Sony occurred. Well, at least 12 tried to eschew the entire character development focus that had become endemic in order to focus on the plot more. And that was, Vaan notwithstanding, a brilliant and gripping political drama.

But everyone over here hated it so Square Enix thought, what would they like and turned to FPS, ripped a load of FPS properties and threw them into Final Fantasy X the last popular one and look, here we are complaining again

OT: The only problem with Final Fantasy is the name, if it had a new name per game they'd have much better reviews and much less whiny fanboys, problem with that is the name, Final Fantasy promises auto-billions and companies need and want money.
