The method of getting into a Titan is terrifying. Simply put, a large machine that, if calibrations are even slightly off, can crush you to death in it's hand, grabs you, and shoves you into a confined space. It's like a claustrophobe's worst nightmare. Yes, it is impressive to watch because it demonstrates how in sync the pilot and Titan are, but once you stop playing, you realize how tough one must be to do this regularly. If I was in the pilot's place I would have started hyperventilating by the time I was in the cockpit. It raises the question of how practical such machines are in real life. What do you guys think?

actually they are more practical than you might think. making them bipedal may prove some difficulty, and their greatest use would with construction in Space for the need of being able to maneuver safely around construction is giant space stations and the like. i think when it comes to bipedal Mech design, Metal Gear is the best. it has a lower center of gravity because it is crouching, this stance also allows swifter movement, and keeps the mech upright. we already have an Iron Man type suite in military R&D, so it would only be a matter of time before we create larger ones. also, Iron Man's suite is essentially a mini mech.

Well unlike in Titanfall, the pilots would go into battle with them. They wouldn't jump in during the midst of battle, that's just fucking stupid.

But in your scenario, that would be fucking terrifying. When I did the entering animation and the titan grabbed me, I'm pretty sure I saw my life flash before my eyes.

1. They probably have some kind of special anti crush armor or more sensors than grains of sand on a beach.

2. Who cares? This isn't real life, it's a game. Practicality can go out an airlock if it prevents awesome things from happening.

They should release a "Creating the Titans" blooper real - "We think it's ready to test Jim, hop on in". I don't know enough about Science and engineering in order to comment on their practicality in the real world but I'd pay to watch sports involving Titans.

Actually Iron Man's suit is power armour, a very different machine from a mech. It's like calling an APC a tank, yes they look alike but they are very different machines. And I'd say the difference is probably bigger between a power suit and a mech.

But all that aside, the Iron Man project is a debunked myth. People saw a few leaked pictures of an exo-suit which has been in development for years and suddenly thought we where building a real Iron Man, which just happened to have no armor, be 10 feet tall, have no weapons and be clearly build for construction and transportation.
