Book-wise, I thought The Edge Chronicles were wholly unique. I've never read anything even remotely similar to them. Stewart's fantasy world is not like any other I've heard of. Give it a read, if you can. Amazing series.
i have read this entire series and i agree that it was something brand new...thank you for the suggestion thoughCheesus333 said:Book-wise, I thought The Edge Chronicles were wholly unique. see i tried it but i found it to be almost a harder darker version of dragon quest....which i found to be an average dungeon and dragons questline....but thats just mesnowman6251 said:Demon's Souls if you haven't played it. There's really nothing else like it out there that I'm aware of. Everything it does is really subtle and clever.
Also your first playthrough will likely be one of the most intense and horrifying gaming experiences you'll ever have. Subsequent playthroughs are much easier since you know all the tricks, traps, ambushes, etc, but your first playthrough will likely be spent tiptoeing through dark hallways terrified at every turn.
I never played Dragon Quest so I can't speak to their similarities and differences but for me Demon's Souls was very refreshing. I prefer fantasy games to sci-fi games in most cases and that's unfortunate for me since Sci-fi shooters are THE games to make right now.steampunk42 said:see i tried it but i found it to be almost a harder darker version of dragon quest....which i found to be an average dungeon and dragons questline....but thats just mesnowman6251 said:Demon's Souls if you haven't played it. It's a very tongue in cheek version of the Odyssey. It's actually more inspired by Sullivan's Travels by Preston Sturges which is named after Gulliver's Travels in which a director wants to make a serious movie called "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Well, that is at least worth watching if you liked the Coen brothers film.steampunk42 said:this is actually one of my favorite movies, here is something you may not know but this is actually a retelling of the Greek epic the Odyssey. it is a good suggestion but i already watch this movie a lot. thanks for trying thoughBobic said:'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' by the Coen brothers was pretty original and told in a unique sorta way. In fact most of their films could probably be considered quite unique.
i have been recomended the dresdon files before but its hard to find time to read a whole series as of late. tried the fallout series before and really didnt find it to be my cup of tea....as for bioshock....well it was the most awesome game ever....other than portalFidelias said:Well, I'm not really sure if this is different, but I always recommend The Dresden Files whenever someone asks me to recommend a book series. It's a fantasy, about a wizard who lives in modern-day Chicago, and gets pulled into all kinds of mysterious events. I mostly just love it for the main character, because he is probably the greatest main character in any book, movie, tv show, or game that I have ever experienced.(By that I mean that he is very well created, not because he's badass. Though he is also badass.)
For games, I'm sure you've already been recommended this, but Fallout 3. Just the way the game draws you in to post-apocalyptia is amazing.
Also Bioshock. The first one. The second one is a joke.
