"Now we're all sons of bitches."

When you watch this what thoughts come to mind?Hell,When I first saw it it brought tears to my eyes,It really is sobering to hear something like this from the creator. This man saw the future of mankind that day and wept..the bomb to me really brought out the true aspects of human nature...a few people laughed in greed and awe over the power...a few people cried at the horrifying display of death..and all others silent...Oppenheimer later opposed the hydrogen bomb because of what it would do.When I look at J. Robert Oppenheimer I see a man who became the casualty of his own knowledge and his own invention,He learned his mistake and tried to prevent the Hydrogen bomb....And they mocked and humiliated him for opposing it,This poor man is one of the most tragic figures of the 20th century in my opinion. He died knowing what he created,He died full of regret. He warned against ever using nuclear weapons again. When they asked him what they could use to prevent terrorists from smuggling nuclear weapons into the US. He told them "A screwdriver, to open every box that comes in our country". He realized with much regret what he had done, and died knowing that he changed the world for the worst. This is the face of the man who created the most dangerous thing on earth,it is a saddened hollow face...Einstein believed his studies led to the A-bomb,on his deathbed he said "If I had known,I would have been a blacksmith."So what do you all think of the Atomic bomb, and the minds that created it?

Hmm... many questions, many answers...

1. I think the atomic bomb is a terrible creation. But wishing that it had never been invented will do us no good.

2. I thank the man or woman who first coined MAD, "mutually assured destruction". I thank that person dearly.

3. I do not know of the life of Mr. Oppenheimer. My history teacher spent more time praising the creation and use of the bomb than he did delving into the history behind it and the people who created it. Until not long ago I thought it was Einstein and only Einstein who created it.

4. Unfortunately, I didn't feel much emotion watching this video. However I did when I read your post.

This is what I have to say on the subject right now. I'm sorry if it doesn't seem like much but I'm still recovering from a 10 hour shift so I'm not in the mood to think or feel.

Good point, and that teacher sounds quite bad. Some people consider him the "Father" of the manhattan project. And a 10 hour shift sounds pretty rough hope you feel a bit better later.

Actually he was probably my favourite teacher in high school (or if not, he was close). He may not have been a great "teacher" per se but his classes were always a joy to attend. Though I'm sure you can guess that because of him, I'm pretty ignorant on the subject of atomic bombs.

BTW I love your avatar. What's it from?

Ah fun teachers are always nice,my teacher was senile but still fun enough,I learned most of what I did out of my own research I got curious so I just looked it up one day, school sort of felt limited.

And thanks, you're the first to mention it,It's Hanako Ikezawa from the game Katawa Shoujo.
