The fact of the matter is that these forums are rife with bitter nerds who choose to endorse things like the 'Darwin Awards' in order to feel better about their many, many shortcomings.

I'd much rather know a self-loathing, hapless freak than a eugenicist. Perhaps that's just me [a self-loathing, hapless freak.]

That ideology is sick and, as you pointed out, it makes very little sense. If there is any universal 'weakness' among our species, it's a lack of adaptability. But one can get along just fine even with that.

I personally find the Darwin Awards both funny and tragic, I hope I'm not an asshole for that.
I'm also starting to note that a lot of people on forums are beginning to sound like comic villains.

"Yes, Mister Bond, I will THIN THE HERD! Mauahahahahahaha!"

Don't get me wrong, videos and so forth can be amusing [if tragic, as you pointed out].
It's the Social Darwinist connotations I don't like.

Ah, you mean like "kill the mouth breathers" or "they've got genes I don't think are any good".
Got ya.

The kind of people who think seem to think stupid accidents are a sort of self-cleansing mechanism on behalf of the gene-pool, yeah.

I think the survival of fittest doesnt work because most of the physically fit and attractive aren't very intelligent.

If we must start a war of killing who we see fit we must at least be allowed resources to make giant robots.
