[The Shade of Time]

I'm 16, I live in a small fishing village were there is nothing to do (many people say this I know, but seriously the two main things to do here are Drink and Drugs.) The other people around my age are all neds and the only 2 people that arn't were either my gf or one of my best friends (the rest of them live in towns close by but too far to walk to.)

Most days I go see my gf play some games with her, then around 8 I go home and watch tv with my family or walk with my friend and his dogs for a few hours.

Now my gf has completely changed and is always going out with these "ned" guys who all say they want to be with her and love her ect. Before she had no friends at all and it was just me. But now she has completely deserted me and if I really want to see her it has to be after shes been out. My other friend is two years younger than me so has different friends and hes in a band so I dont expect much time with him any hows, and now im on exam leave And yes I do study.

So lately i've felt useless, that i've got nothing to do.

I would play games but i've completed most of them and the only shooter i have right now is Halo 3 and the closest game shop is an hours drive away

What the hell can I do?

I'm some what a outgoing person and I love a good walk but with not much place to walk and so many complete twats around my town I only tend to go out with others.

I play Guitar but that just gets repetitive. and I dont want to play World of Warcraft again.

So is there some kind of hobby or... something that you enjoy that could take afew hours between my free days and going back to school?

Townies, Chavs, Bams, Cruisers, you name it.
Ned it just a Scottish term for those thing i just named.

Umm, maybe go for a run or something? Some exercise is always a great way to break up revision and keep active?

Books, or perhaps if you are restless at times audio books. Reading is seriously good for your development. You can learn new and interesting subjects, some nice ways of thinking, all the while having an entertaining story in front of you. If you can't sit still for a moment, than get audio books. They are excellent if you like to go for a walk. If you have a good book, you'll be surprised of how fast times goes by.
Starting to read novels (if you aren't doing it now already) is rather hard at the beginning. I used to not read mostly because I had to from school. But once I got rid of my television I started picking up some nice books, and I got hooked. There are so many stories out there that you need never get bored. PM me for some series you can read, if you like this idea.

Another idea is gaming! You are at a gaming forum after all. If your PC isn't all that good, and/or money is an issue, you can start a thread about nice old games (or use the search button, but that way you won't get flamed upon).

Some more random idea's:

- Buy a pogo stick.
- Buy a basketball, and shoot some hoops.
- Buy some running shoes, and start jogging a bit.
- Search some senior fellow in your village, and ask for war stories.
- Start your own porn collection.
- Stalk your (ex?) girlfriend.
- Build a tree-house.
- Build more tree-houses.
- Get a fishing rod, and start fishing.
- Find a job, not so much fun but you get money.
- Learn some more stuff. Scroll through random pages of wikipedia.
- Get some side studies, which you can do at home.
- Start painting.
- Make your own websites.
- If you can't, learn how to.
- Create your own novel or story. Post it here on the Escapist, lots of willing readers.
- Try to climb every tree in the vicinity.
- Watch A LOT of films.
- Download or buy a tv series, and watch 'em all.
- Get a bike, go to another town, and hang out there.
- Start an association called "House of the bored". People will come and you can have fun with them.
- Create a charity fund for starving children in Africa.
- Run for president.
- Grow your own weed plants, or build a moonshine operation.

Or just a normal small home based business, that you should keep you occupied.

Or if you're young College/Uni work, do some extra reading around subjects, might find something interesting

Seriously, why not try to get a job? You're in a fishing village, so there's got to be something you can do for money.

Spend all day on your PC, its awesome, go on here, digg.com, stumbleupon.com and you will never be bored again. Watch Tv on your computer, find new friends online, start a website, and devote all your time to getting people to your website. Play flash games online, try watch every single youtube video, lol. And yeah, drinkings pretty good option, win your girl back with drink, then when she is hungover the next day, show her the awesome youtube video you just made, it will be awesome.

You can sell and earn money..
Social in the way that ppl always call to buy, and then will often invite you to parties where you can get more friends..

Do it in a outhouse, cause it smells big time, also you need a waterhose/source of constantly running fresh water..

Also starting your own little pub in your cellar is always a big hit..

But maybe you are a bit young for these ideas..

So you could always start buying old boats, fix them up and sell them..

ok on a more serious note, have kids, its fun wile making them and it shure keeps you ocupied when they are out!! haha, well reading is one thing, but if you really want to have some fun, go to you local community center and hang out there, also exercising is a good idea so you will be all buff and big and will be able to get your girl out of those neds

i second this. it's what i did when i lived in my grubby little fishing town. it took some good manipulaation of my parents though. Also, try learning something new. apply to contests. do stuff you never thought you would do b4. it hlps alot.
