Jupiter by Gustav Holst.
My favorite song in the world, just utterly majestic and beautiful. When I hear the middle section, I imagine everything going right for a change; things stopping tumbling, and instead starting to dance.

From 3:13 to the very end of the song... breathtaking. The lead up to the final riff gets me so excited, and then that riff actually hits, and it's nothing short of spectacular. I love this song, and no matter how often I listen to it, the effect never wears off :)

EDIT: from 5:20 onwards, there's no noise, so don't bother listening after that.

This thread needs some more light-hearted music videos.

First and foremost, Glorious by MUSE. It stirred me to the brink of tears the first time I heard it.

Hometown Glory by Adele, Always Like This by the Bombay Bicycle Club and Cody by Mogwai also had a similar (albeit slightly less potent) effect.

Finally...

Ænema- Tool

I know that there are others, but I'm drawing a blank right now.
R. I. P. Bill Hicks. I wish I had known earlier that he and Tool were friends.

OT: Too many songs to list. However, thanks to Extra Credits, there's one song that absolutely is too good for words:

I won't make a huge list so I'll just narrow it down to the one song that got me hooked on music. War Pigs by Black Sabbath; yes I know I just put myself into that metal-head category that almost everyone seems to dislike. I'm 22 by the way.

Why does everyone like metal?
I ask myself this everyday I come to the escapists, it's over run with metal heads.
Is that a bad thing? Unless music has somehow influenced pop-culture I rarely see someone's musical preference influence their post. It's just a genre of music, no harm in liking it.

Persona 3 final battle theme, 'twas awesome. Spoiler'd since i consider late game music to be a spoiler

I'm not sure what it is about splicing music you've already heard during the game into a boss theme but it's awesome

Also this

It does not deserve to be a menu only theme, it's too goddamn epic

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Moya

Probably the most beautiful song ever recorded. I make sure to listen to it at least once a day. The crescendo is just amazing. Listening to this while high is literally mind blowing.

The very first Death Metal song I ever heard: Kataklysm's 'As I Slither'

A sonic rockslide intro followed with an audio hurricane that literally nearly knocked me off my feet.

The best songs are like good sex, starting out relatively slow, then building and building and building until the fantastic release at the end.

Examples:
Lynyrd Skynyrd: Freebird
Outlaws: Green grass and high tides
Secret Sphere: White lion

There are many, but songs like that are my favorites...preferably a little long with great guitarism/melodies.

That was a great song. But the vocals make me so fucking depressed. This was far from the worst growling I've heard but still, growling vocals just ruins music to me and it makes me SOOOOOOOO sad because a lot of this type of metal is extremely melodic and completely awesome to listen to, but I'm not able to enjoy it because of the vocals in most cases :'(

The drumwork was also a perfect 10 imo. Great song, thanks for sharing :)
