Sonic Adventure - Tails levels, beatable?

If you've read my recent review of the game, you'll know that I like Sonic Adventure DX, despite its having a few little issues to work out. Unfortunately, with one part of the game, there's a rather larger issue to work out: Tails simply isn't faster than Sonic. And since you have to have Tails outrun Sonic in Tails' part of the game... I'm still stuck on Windy Valley.

Most of the problem is that to find the shortcuts the first time, you have to do it as Tails, since only he can reach a lot of them. And yes, I do know that there are green rings that boost you forwards, but unfortunately, it's simply not enough for me to stay ahead of the blue blur. While I haven't actually played the stage all the way through yet, because I usually ragequit after falling behind, I still don't think it's doable.

Abuse the fact that Tails can fly. You can take a LOT of shortcuts that will make Sonic go "hey! Stop cheating!". Use them.

If you're having trouble, just keep retying the levels and keep experimenting with your route until you find more and more shortcuts. You'll beat him eventually.

Honestly, I never had trouble with the tails levels. Yeah, I usually finished with only a 5-6 second lead, but still.

Yeah, what other people said, use shortcuts all the time. It's a recurring theme throughout the whole of his levels - you have to outrun them by flying everywhere and taking every shortcut possible. The last mission is a little tricky because they can fly as well :/

Also, be aware that if you get really far ahead, they will cheat and jump forward randomly. But they'll still be a fair distance behind you even after they do that.
