Alright, everyone here most likely knows the continuous tread of past games starring or loosely based on Sonic the Hedgehog have been far below the average of a good game for the past good decade. I have little hope for Sonic 4, but Sonic Colors somewhat piqued my interest, but my hopes aren't the highest. So is this the blue blur's return (finally) or just another sad excuse for a game being thrown on the table?

Looks like a game that isn't going to be very enjoyable. Then again, it's probably just me looking back on the last 7ish years of Sonic games that is making me say that.

It looks pretty good. It looks like it's just all the daytime stages form Sonic Unleashed and I remember hoping the next Sonic game would be the daytime stages of sonic unleashed so it should be good.

I think there are two titles that may hopefully finally slap Sonic Team to their senses.
The first one is this, Sonic Colours, as I think it looks really good and sounds quite promising.
The second is, if it happens, the introduction of Sonic Adventure (originally for the Dreamcast) to the XBL Arcade. That game was immense.

Sonic Unleashed Day stages were quite enjoyable, but not exactly perfect. These levels had better at least have several 3 or 4 minute acts, or else it'll just feel completely rushed out.

Sonic Adventure was incredible. I liked SA2 a lot as well - I just don't know how they got all the subsequent 3D Sonic games so so so wrong.

I think it'll suck. To me it looks like they just slapped a different mechanic on the usual 2D/3D sonic, they've tried that with like eight other different mechanics, and most of them have sucked. But I may still be wrong, it's still too early to tell I think.

The wisps don't seem to bad, but the quick time events seem annoying to a point, and frankly to easy at others.

It was truly amazing. Like you said, why they didn't stick with it as a basis for the rest of the 3D Sonic games I'll never know.
In fact that's something I'd like to expand on...

Sonic has become too much like Mario, except he's worse. Mario is constantly changing in setting (kind of) and story (again, kind of) but the goal is always the same; rescue the Princess.
Sonic has become bastardised almost to the point of no return. At first it was the same, defeat Dr. Robotnik[footnote]Dr. Eggman? What the fuck...[/footnote] and gather the Chaos Emeralds. Since then we've seen him weilding a sword, gathering those Chao things, teaming up in a group of 3, etc.

Troll.

I seriously can't believe any human being can say that without lying. You'd rather have another gimmicky game, instead of an actual Sonic Game? Especially one with no 10 billion friends you are forced to play as?

Yes, but I have my reasons. Sonic 4 is much of a pretender to the old Sonic games. It looks similar, but in each tech demo the controls seemed floaty, and the levels seemed to lack any innovation, like copy pastes of old sonic titles. I should've worded the earlier differently. I am looking forward to Sonic colors more due to the new ideas that still allow it to be a sonic title.

I'll still buy Sonic 4, but I hold more anticipation for Sonic Colors as of so far.

I played a leaked version of Sonic 4, and I can say that I'm actually impressed with it. It's not the same as the originals, because you can't break the game with pure speed anymore (which is sort of good since you won't have to die or reset from breaking the game now), and I hate the controlled speed feeling, but once you get into some later levels, it's pretty unique compared to those. Check for a video of the mine cart stage for example. I was worried about the 'motion control' gimmick, but it turned out to be pretty fun. It's way better than it sounds too, but I don't want to spoil what it does. And it's only for that one zone, thankfully.

It looks like the daylight stages of Unleashed, which are fast and fun, so it looks like it might be a goer.

Pity it's only on the Wii though.

Am i the only one who saw the name of the game and thought of Mario Paint?
