I played the demo and thought it was quite good, especially the classic Sonic sections. That being said, I'm not going to be picking it up on release. I'll buy it used in a couple of months when it's like 15 quid.

hell, I'd trade Big and Cream for Ray and Mighty any day
Shadow on the other hand, though he is the one that sparked all of this crap, I still think he served his actual purpose well, he played his role in Adventure 2 and it ended there, when he sacrificed himself, that's where Shadow should've ended
but no, the fandom picked him up because he has upwards spines, is red and black, and does magic

This is why I have a hard time taking all of the shaming of modern Sonic games without a heavy grain of salt. If new Sonic games are bad, it's not because they contain characters other than Sonic and Tails.

Amy Rose and Knuckles both showed up on the 2D Sonic era.

When people talk about Sonic's dumb friends they aren't referencing Knuckles (and maybe Amy at a pinch). Everyone loves Sonic, Tails and Knuckles though, they're the classic trio. When people say "Sonic's dumb friends" they mean these guys(minus the obvious three):

The demo (on PS3) was fun so I'm considering it.

It's $50 on Steam (at least in my region) and a full price game on PS3 but I can get it for about $25 from greenmangaming... so I just need to wait and see if the PC port is shit or not.

OT: I'm one of those rare people who likes all of the Sonic games I've played, which consists of the Genesis trio, Adventure 1, Heroes (!!!) and Colours (Wii). I'll probably get the PC version on Steam because it's cheaper there, though, with Christmas money or something.

Sonic was always about that. There just wasn't any focus on it nor did the technology make it super easy.

No it was about a small blue hedgehog that ran really fast and collected rings... which is how it should have stayed. Sonic's friends are horrible characters stuck in the 1990's along with Sonic himself. If they deleted half the cast and made the remaining ones mute it might help. Sorry if that seems harsh but I really wonder if the Sonic Team realise how horrifically bad they are or they are just surrounded by yes men 24/7.

Since I don't believe anything IGN says I'll waiting for this game to come out and people to play it before even thinking about it.

There just too many other games coming out that are good to risk wasting money on a sonic game.

And how are Sonic characters stuck in an era while Mario is not? Aside from, you know, Sonic trying to seem too cool and "badditude" and it come off lame and corny? You can get away with the "not working" trying to be cool thing with Sonic. But getting rid of the character like Tails, Amy Rose, and even Cream the Rabbit and interaction between these characters, is pointless.

Some of the characters need tweaking. But not Tails, that's for sure. What's wrong with what character and why?

All the people that are asking why Sonic games have a bad reputation have obviously never played Sonic the Hedgehog on the 360 or PS3... Seriously it was terrible... Monumentally so...

I WAS a fan. Around Sonic Adventure 2 I jumped ship, but it was a franchise I used to heavily enjoy.

Besides I have every right to complain, the changes of have made the games horrific.
