As long as it's fast-paced, gimmicky, and colorful like the classic Sonic titles, I think it could succeed.

Dimps is responsible for all the 2D Sonics on Nintendo handhelds and they developed many of the levels in the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed which is arguably superior to its 360/PS3 counterparts. But most importantly, they made the original Sonic Advance, which was the last great Sonic game. If anyone can make Sonic 4 amazing, its these guys.
I actually think it's a good thing that there is a fresh team working on it... Sonic Team hasn't done much good in awhile.
And again, I wonder why Knuckles and Tails (the only good characters) aren't allowed. Co-op Sonic games were amazing.

I completely agree I actually like Tails and Knuckles and even Shadow, but characters like silver and the weird hoverboarding birds from sonic riders we could do withoutForgottenPr0digy said:

That would explain it a lot, since the only good RECENT Sonic games were made by THQ on the GBA. Half of unleashed was really good but I recall that being made by someone else. Please SEGA, do us ALL a favor and just let other companies make your games for us? We don't want the likes of Silver, Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Cream, or the other freaks joining the party.

Dimps have made the best Sonic games since Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush are actually really well made, good games. Here's a toast to Sonic speeding down the right route.

Dimps also made sonic rush, the only genuinely good sonic game we've had in a while. I'm on the fence over whether or not this will be good, having the sonic 1 bonus stages though I think was a mistake... oh wait don't tell me... EPISODE 2 WILL HAVE SONIC 2 STYLE BONUS STAGES! yawn.

I actually wanted to play the Sonic advance games after I'd bought them, so that's gotta be a plus in my book at least.
A new Sonic game not being made by Team Sonic, no matter how much of a good idea that may be, it still sounds kinda weird.
