Good on you Sony, you acted fast and minimalized damage where possible.

Hacker rule number 1: Attack the company that just spent a ton recovering from a series of attacks and has thus the most up-to-date security. That's a smart idea.

Interesting to hear Sony intercepted the attack. Less interesting to hear somebody is ripping off IDs and Passwords from somewhere else.

Using a debit card on the internet is madness. I go further and only use my debit card in an ATM. If I use a card anywhere else, it's a credit card - hooray for not risking my own money.

Odd. When I logged on to the PSN earlier it said my password was invalid, so I got it reset and changed. Was I... one of the infected? D: * confused*

Anyway, nice to see Sony acting fast this time. I heard a lot about the Xbox, too, mainly people stealing MS points and stuff to do with Fifa 12?

I'm glad Sony realized what the right thing to do was.

Also, I figure this is as good a place as any to ask this: I need your guys' opinion on something someone I know said about this attack. He said that Sony taking the precautionary measure of locking out PSN accounts was stupid. I personally think he's an idiot for saying that. What's your opinion on it?

least sony acted fast this time, starting to feel sorry for sony now =/
Don't. Don't ever feel sorry for them.
This year was a wake-up call for Sony and it's incentive for them to improve.

I'm still hearing the "It's their fault they got hacked." Not looking for sympathy, but have to wonder where they got the information from to try it.

I would say the fast reaction time is definitely an improvement. You still have a lot to learn in my opinion, but still, good job Sony.

A new attempt to compromise thousands of PSN and SOE accounts has ended in failure.

about 93,000 accounts were affected
so which is it? because 93.000 accounts stolen i call a sucess.

Sony locked everything down at the first sign of trouble.
turning off power in your house whenever your kid goes to a porn side may be effective, but its not really a way to do it.

also it was a physing attempt from what i can gather, so its not really hacking and its not really anything to do with sony other than its their accounts anyway. if the people were smart enough not to spam 100.000 accounts at once they could have gotten away with it, easily.

Whatever you do; DO NOT use your debit card.
1. Most online services don't even allow debit cards so yeah.
2. As far as somone stealing your info debit cars are way safer.

Same with me to tell you the truth.
Numbers are stolen from brick & mortar stores all the time.
Exactly, let them steal from Discover & not me.
