Yes, Amazing Spider-Man 1 was such a failure....

Then again, Bob included 2, where he already had to backpedal.

Well, it is just a rumor, however credible it may be.
And it's not very credible. Latino Review has had a couple noteworthy successes, but not a great track record.

But as the comments demonstrate, people will take any excuse possible to complain about the Amazing Spider-Man line.

Now now, I think I'd rather watch that than MOS 2.

Or Sinister 6.
Honestly, I liked Garfield and loved Emma Stone in those movies. The main problem was the writing. I'll never understand the Garfield hate.

As weird as this sounds, but...

wasn't there a comic where Aunt May actually beat up Galactus or something?

Call me crazy, but i swear i remember hearing about that so, hey, if they make it a fun comedy about an old woman with superpowers fighting Galactus, this might just be kinda fun in a horrendously stupid way.

...then again, this is the same studio that made Amazing Spiderman 2 and X-men Origins: Wolverine, so...

Garfield suffers from "Not David Tennant" syndrome.

A lot of the hate for the franchise comes from it being done by "not Sam Raimi," too.

Golden Oldie. Bob covered that in a previous news piece and I think he even did it in intermission or something.

I sort of wonder if that's inadvertently where this "rumour" started.
