Over the generations, all three manufacturers have given us great games. I'm curious which manufacturer people feel have contributed the highest quality content.

Personally, I'm a fan of Sony. I found Bloodborne and Demon Souls to be the two best exclusives of their generation. On top of that, Horizon delivered the best open world experience of the year, while The Last of Us gave us a strong narrative driven title unlike what we've seen in the medium. Add Shadow of the Colossus HD and God of War to the mix and, for me, it's a no brainer.

I've owned consoles developed by all three at some point or other, but for me, Nintendo stands head and shoulders above the rest in terms of distinct content. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon is a hard lineup to beat. Helps that I've always been a handheld console fan.

This thread'll go places.

Personally I throw my chips in with Sony and their vast variety of games. I'm also a sucker for games with some form of narrative in them.

I think all of the console developers have their merits, so it's not like any of them are bad. In fact, I would say I'm a fan of all three, having had at least one console or handheld from each of them at some point or another.

I just tend to lean toward more narrative or art house games, and Sony more or less takes the lead in that area.

Well, PSP was also a pretty popular thingy, and i'm sure some newest version of it gonna have a great success. But discussing exclusives, which are just games from various developers, is not related to comparing CONSOLE DEVELOPING. So it is not fair to be an argument as exclusive game. And as we know, exclusives doesn't makes a great loyalty (not a prerequisite to Epic Games Store).

Sony. Iā€™ve owned all four models of PlayStation but only one model of Xbox.
I've had PS2-4. Xbox-Xbox 1 X.
Exclusives... can't make up my mind. Great stuff from both.
I prefer Xbox hardware and has enough games to keep me happy.
Again though, love 'em both. Got both (And Wii U: my old hands cannot make enough use of Switch).

Who the heck voted Microsoft? Their manufacturing standards are so poor one of their consoles crapped the bed by the millions and they pioneered some of the worst practices in the console market. Payed access to online mulitplayer started with Xbox and spread to all the other consoles one after another like an plague.

It is about the games they make, not the hardware.

As critical as I am of the concept of exclusives, Sony have benefited from a superior selection of those on top of a consistently strong selection of games since the days of the PSX. Tear Ring Saga, Drakengard, Evergrace, Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, the Infamous series, MGS4, PaRappa 2, the Xenosaga games, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelists of the Roses ("guilty" pleasure of mine), and many more. They've had some good stuff on their portable systems as well, but when I want to play a game, I generally want to immerse myself in something involving and challenging (whether in gameplay or themes), and Sony have most consistently sought out to provide such an experience.

Sony, followed by Nintendo. Microsoft had nothing left to offer me a long time ago, and it shows now even more so. With that said, I don't regret the times I've had with the 360. I still play games on it.

This poll is clearly biased from an ancient gamer, out-of-touch perspective...where the fuck is Google stadia; the future of gaming?? Injustices! Get with the times, old man/woman/unkempt house creature! Embrace the ephemeral cloooouuuud...

It's a toss-up between Nintendo and Sony for me. Based on the stuff I own and have played, Sony has a small edge in terms of quality, but Nintendo has the advantage in quantity. Microsoft comes in fourth.

Me. The original Box was a tank. The 360 was rushed and the red ring issue was real. Buy by the end of it's run? My son still has an arcade version (4 Gig flash no hard drive) that I bought one for $200ish and installed it so he has 320 Gig now. 10ish year old tech working fine. I have 360 controllers with terrific rechargeable batteries I use on PCs. I prefer they way they feel to the PS3/4. ITMT: I had 2 fat ps2s that died and 1 slim (might have been my kids fault). Course, since 2008 or so, my PS3s have survived. Controllers have died so, there is that. The MS stuff on balance has just been surviving better than Sony.

My 360 rrod on me twice, and after that kept eating copies of Devil May Cry 4. And only DMC4. Luckily, GameStop had a deal at the time where you got bonus trade-ins for original 360 models. So I used that and some store credit to get a refurbished 360 slim (early 2014). Our (my brother and I) fat ps2 died just a month before the ps2 slim launched. I eventually got my own ps2 slim in 2011, and both of ours still work now. The 360 was rushed no different from the ps2. The fact that Microsoft had a " not my fault" attitude and accused people of legit complaints called them spoiled whiners. One of them had gotten 3 or 4 different 360s that all RROD, which proves the point That irks me and is really unprofessional. The fact they did not admit it until unveiling the slim and they got their cash afterward or hoping people would forget with a better model.

My brother's PS3 (which he gave away) still works now, and the YLOD was rarer than the RROD. The 360 has plenty of variety, but Microsoft faltered and their variety and exclusives on the XONE are nowhere near as much nor as interesting on PS4 and . IF you love Japanese gaming especially, either console is a must buy.

The 360 controllers are of good quality; it's just too bad the Dpads are the near worst in history. Once you get an Xbox one controller running on your PC, there is almost no reason to use the 360 controller, unless the game in question is not compatible with a XONE controller. Still good on you for having the 360 you got for your son lasting and still going strong.

Nintendo. I like Sony as well for a number of reasons like some of their IPs and the PS2/PS4, but Nintendo has given me some of the best experiences in gaming. It's the company I grew up with, and I remember a ton of their older and even newer games very fondly. I also like that they keep doing things different rather than chasing specs like other companies do. The Switch has been amazing and I love it

I care very little for Microsoft games these days. The last gen has been super lackluster for them, especially compared to Sony who comparatively knocked it out of the park. Halo this gen has peaked at mediocrity, Gears has been generally solid, but mostly unmemorable, and the rest of Microsofts exclusive lineup has been... wait, what have they done other than Forza?

Im (morbidly) curious about how Halo Infinite turns out, as it has been 5 years since Halo 5 came out, but im not particualy interested in getting a Series X, at least as long as they keep up their PC ports of their exclusives.

Sony on the other hand, have been doing a great job. I never owned a PS3, so I have been catching up one some great games like Uncharted 1-4, with 4 becoming probably one of my favourite games ever. The Last of Us was a great time, and leads me to be very excited for the sequel. Spider-Man PS4 was the Spider-Man game that I have always wanted. Even God of War and Horizon, both of which I didnt enjoy all that much, were still leaps and bounds ahead in quality, compared to anything from camp Microsoft. They have just done a great job, and I will probably be picking up a PS5 at some point.

As for Nintendo, up until now, I have always seen them as a bit of a gimmck. Ooh wow, motion controlls. Ooh wow, a screen on your controller. Ooh wow, console quality games on the go? Wait, thats actually useful!

Ive never really been big on Nintendo's first party games. Smash didn't work for me. Mario is a platformer, and I dont like platformers. Zelda has never appealed, and BotW is an open-world game, and I just cant be bothered with it. But the amount of third-party ports that it has been getting has just been fantastic, and its eShop is filled with a boatload of great indie games. I'd never have it as a solo console, but as a companion to a gaming PC, or a PS4, it is just invaluable.

So I suppose it is between Nintend and Sony then, but to me, it is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. Sony have made a great home console with fantastic exclusives, whereas Nintendo have made brilliant handheld with some really optimistic ports of third-party games that I can play on the go. I dont really think I can say either one wins for me. Just not Microsoft.

For me it's Nintendo followed closely by Sony.

The Switch is my favorite gaming device right now and I've always leaned more towards Nintendo, since up until I was 15 I was a exclusively a Nintendo gamer. I've had every home console of theirs since the SNES. Nintendo has rebounded beautifully from the failure of the Wii U.

Sony has great exclusives but this gen they've started showing their pre-PS3 arrogance again and that has me concerned about the PS5.

As for Microsoft, there's no reason for me to own an Xbox when I can play the games on my PC. My PC isn't the best, but it's good enough to run most current games that I care about at 1080p 60fps. Since I'm more into platformers and RPGs/JRPGs there's not much on Xbox for me.
