Well, if Sony truly ends up having a much better selling console, then any other publisher, other than the first party ones, would be rather idiotic to do X1 exclusives. Even if it's DLCs. Of course Sony needs to sell a lot for this to be true.

It's only timed-exclusive DLC? That's a relief, I thought they had a timed exclusive for the whole game. With that and Titanfall I could see the Xbox One severely beating the PS4 no matter what else happened
I honestly think Titanfall is going to be a "timed exclusive" to the xbone. It's not made by a 1st, or even 2nd, party company on behalf of MS. It's being published by EA. When was the last time EA limited themselves to providing a game for a single console? I've been doing my best to pay attention, and have not read/heard anything saying:

Titanfall will be released on the XBONE and not on the PS4.

The info that I've seen regarding the game has been ambiguous:
I do remember an interview where the developers seemed to be hinting that that could be the case and it would make a lot of sense. Bioshock was a timed exclusive in the end and even then, it could be like Mass Effect 1 where Sony would be able to sell the game digitally after a certain point.

But if there's anytime where EA would sign over exclusivity, it is for a console launch because it can shore up the low number of people who have the platforms yet

This old trick again ...

Looks like we will be see more stories like this,

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/08/japanese-gamer-breaks-disc-and-burns-magazine-article-over-vespe/

MS pays the developer for a time exclusive, developers being greedy take it. Sony then threatens to not allow their game on the PS unless extra content is added, developers being greedy comply - and extra content that can range from real extra content or extra content as in a more complete game where they use the xbox version as a beta test >.>.

LOL what a weird situation.
Pretty safe bet that Titanfall will release for the PS4 and probably the PS3, too. It's releasing on 360, One and PC so I doubt it will stay on Microsoft systems for long.

To another 10-12 years of meaningless console "wars" between to similar systems with a few different exclusives.

With that and Titanfall I could see the Xbox One severely beating the PS4 no matter what else happened :( CoD and that sort of game are system sellers for so many people. I can't see Octodad or The Witness having the same pull even though they're an infinitely more important thing to go after
See, this is exactly what worries me. After all the conferences and conventions, it seemed like a lot of people were confused by Microsoft's vague double-talk. I saw a lot of people thinking CoD itself was a timed exclusive, and I have no doubt that many Xbone preorders were influenced by this misunderstanding. I am certain that MS intentionally tried to talk about this issue in a way that would lead people to that wrong conclusion. I love my 360, but this year has not been good for MS.

These tactics didn't work on the 360 vs. the PS3. Remember all the JRPGs that were timed exclusives on the 360 that went to flop? Most of them got re-released on the PS3 with the DLC added on for free or in the case of some of them, extra content overall. And they sold more on the PS3.

The only developers that truly benefit from these timed DLC exclusive deals is Bethesda, and that's because they refused to learn how to properly code for the PS3 when many much smaller developers did.

To be honest i work in games retail and never ever really discussed CoD's dlc exclusing timed bolocks in the sales of a console, it comes up now and then if some ps3 owner got confused by the maps being out on the 360 and him thinking they'd be out on the ps3 at the same time but thats beyond the point of mattering to that person beyond oh i'll be back in a week/month/whatever.

I agree with sony and their head start due to bad press against microsoft early on has put them in a position that will blow past this whole minor issue of timed dlc.
