When I was talking functionality, I was on about gaming functionality, case in point - multiplayer. I know multiplayer is regarded with disdain on this site, but many value it.

There are a lot of people getting the PS4, BUT most of us don't want to spend the money on anything like that for now. And you have to account for the fact that many people wait until they release a more stable version of the consoles to go and buy one. I remember my first PS2 was slower than my second one and I remember a blue flash coming from inside it when something clearly blew up. The second one still works when I turn it on. I didn't buy the PS3 at launch because of that reason. And I got that right too. Remember kiddies, never buy a console at launch. No wait, buy them all you want so they can make money and then release stable versions. Forget all that other crap I said.

I dont diss multiplayer, i play 2 MMOs at the moment, but the people who had no internet and played with old consoles either did not want or could not play multiplayer to begin with, so playing singleplayer on new consoles would still not be a downgrade. your statement woudl be true if new consoels would be extremely focused for multiplayer and barely did anything for singleplayer. which may very well still be, because from what we saw, there was way too much emphasis of "look how this building falls in multiplayer".
