Quite frankly, this doesn't really tell us anything. For all we know, all these Move units were sold primarily for already existing PS3 systems. Infact, if recent NPD figures are anything to go by, that could be the case, since hardware sales have still gone down compared to last year.
Either way, however, whether or not Move succeeds isn't dependant on initial sales. The main question will be whether or not Move-powered software is enticing enough to convince current non-customers to pick up a PS3 just to be able to play them. Tapping into the existing market is easy....it's expanding into another one or a currently non-existing one that is the hard part. Whether or not the games for it manage to push PS3 sales in the long run will be the real indicator whether or not the peripheral has lived up to it's potential.
