Interesting stuff as I used to work there for a few months as a games tester.

Sad to see that its closing its doors after all this time. I wish all the best to the staff there.

THIS. SUCKS. Wipeout was one of my favorite games, and it's such a shame to see it go. I think I'll play some Wipeout HD today to honor them.

Good luck to those who are migrating into Sony though.

What a damn shame. I've enjoyed their work since way back in the Amiga days. The British games industry just seems to be getting smaller and smaller these days. Really hope everyone lands on their feet.

Would just like to point out, though, that Psygnosis only published Lemmings and Formula 1. Lemmings was developed by DMA Design (who are now Rockstar North), and Formula One was developed by the now-defunct Bizarre Creations.

What, they were Psygnosis? God I loved their games. I'm pretty sure they developed Shadow Of The Beast on the Amiga. And who didn't love doing the flying head chop on Barbarian?

Sad news indeed. Another talented studio bites the dust, which seems to be an ongoing trend nowadays. Still can't believe Sony went ahead and did this... Studio Liverpool has been one of their finest first party developers for years, and was largely responsible for bringing fortune and fame for the first Playstation. Wipeout has since been a system showcase on every Sony platform, but no more? It saddens me even more to hear that Studio Liverpool actually had been working on a nextgen WipeOut for the PS4 for well over 12 months now.. this is so depressing! Obviously, the sales numbers for WipeOut 2048 on the Vita could not have been impressive, but to be honest that has to be more due to the fact that the Vita itself is selling poorly, cause everyone I know that has a Vita also has WipeOut 2048?! By far the best game on the system IMO.
