I didn't realise that they were still being made.

Plus I should be far too mature to laugh at the word floppy, I'm not 13 anymore dammit!!

No one read the bbc report? Apparently millions are sold each year, and they're not quite sure who to.

I remember when Monkey Island 2 came on five floppy disks. I remember when I was younger I wanted a floppy disk (preferably transparent orange) to take to school and carry aaaaall my documents on.

If I could change my username, I would change it to Nostalgic Bastard.

Goodnight old friend...

I love that so short a time ago a couple megabytes of space was massive. I can't wait to see what it will be like in another 20 years, I guess I'll be buying solid state hdd's with games pre-installed on them.

Good bye floppies, we will never forget you. You will forever be in our hearts, and our "Save" icons.

Just cause it's Sony I almost want to spite them and get a 3.5 drive installed on my computer and use it to install Tony La Russa Baseball II, a complete game on six floppies!

Noooooooooo...

I'll remember you, floppy, dammit, I will!

I still have a drive on my computer... Although I don't ever use it for obvious reasons.

Still, floppies are damn awesome.

Actually, it would be damn cool if I did a little pointless project this summer... Reinstall WoW with all the patches - probably comes up to about 8 or 10 gigs, or less... Then get my hands on as many floppies as I can (hundreds of them!) and put the whole game on it.

Bwahahah. Shit. I've so gotta do it. Then you could use the floppies as a mosaic.

Yes they still make 3.5" drives and you can still by the disks. Heck, I still support servers that have 3.5" drives in them.

I am really glad that these things will finally be discontinued. After about 2000 - 2002 there really was no need for them with mass amount of flash based and CD media out there.

R.I.P. Floppy Disk.
I was still using them when I was in the programing tract in college. We'd stick the programs on 3.5s because flash drives were still too expensive to turn into an instructor. The graphics design program used zip disks... heh, anyone remember those?

Wow, they were still making those. I thought computers stopped putting floppy drives on standard like 10 years ago.
That is defenetly not true. In 2006 I took an exam and it had to be save on a flopy. They are defenetly more rare then they once were but they are still used.

As I recall, Windows 95 shipped with a floppy distribution, it was something like 45 disks.

Good ol' A drive. I'll remember the floppy. I'll remember the entire box of them that I bought for the sake of storing pictures. I'll remember the first one I ever received as my own, and wrote on the label, "Please don't touch the metal peice" and my teacher reading it out loud, making me feel like an idiot, and thus never forgetting how to properly spell the word 'piece'. I'll remember the time I found some of the floppy discs my Dad had in a floppy container, finding a lot of awesome games and the first version of strip poker I ever played.

I'll remember. And I'll keep the floppy drive, as well.

I tried using a Floppy once back in the late 90's/early 2000's.
The Computer crashed when I tried to load what I put on it.

Still, I will miss them (For some reason) and now have a desire to own one, just to have.

I'd like to see DVDs disappear as well. Those are even dated technology now.
